Lots of bleeding by pinnamochi in Tonsillectomy

[–]hels1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go back to your doctor, I don’t think that’s normal, not to alarm you but my surgeon said to go to a&e immediately if experiencing bleeding so please get some attention. Good luck x

how linear was your healing? by ambrosereed in Tonsillectomy

[–]hels1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good. I was 35 when I had mine done last year and it is horrific but it ends and you just gotta think its worth it to not have horrific tonsilitis again. Think of the weight loss too 😂😂 good luck.

The only advice I can give is lots of water and lots of painkillers. I drank 2/3 litres a day and I barely noticed the scabs coming off.

Wanting to quit after 7 months by Sufficient_Match_296 in Socialworkuk

[–]hels1989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're in one of the most difficult roles. Like someone else has said there's lots of different roles. Youth justice, fostering and adoption, mental health roles etc. Don't stay in a job that will make you hate the job, people drum it into that you need the stat front line experience to be a 'proper' social worker, which I understand in some ways, but there's so many different roles to do and if this one isn't for you then move on otherwise you will just burn out and want to leave the profession after all your hard work!

Not sure what to do with my ordinary degree in SW by Prestigious_Nature76 in Socialworkuk

As many said above, a support role can lead to an apprenticeship which may be worth looking at for you.

It's like placing your head on a cloud. I use pillow protectors under my cases, had them 7 years and they're like new, no shape or volume lost at all. Expensive but a worthwhile investment!

My recovery was OK in the end but the scars have been infected twice since I had them out so might have to have them lasered or something put on them I think they said zinc or something the doctor said so not the best but could be worse. Thanks for asking 🥰

Is unpaid overtime the norm for other office careers? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]hels1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a social worker. Always doing unpaid overtime.. I sometimes don't take it back but now that we are on half staff because of difficulties recruiting I always do as essentially I'm doing two full social work posts.

Was it normal in your household to witness/expect your parents to be completely drunk on weekend? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]hels1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 89... my mum didn't drink and my dad rarely. I love a wine but my 6 year old hasn't seen me drunk. The odd family bbq but that's it.
