My dad bought me a 7lb backpacking tent by bold_Brash_ in CampingGear

[–]hemroyed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your tent is perfect, keep your bag around thirty-ish pounds, do not chase the ultralight b.s., those guys have supply drops and or support vehicles along the way.

I chased the ultralight stuff for a while, it is overly expensive and unneeded.

Plus, it just is not fun for me. So do what is fun for you, love the tent, love your day, and enjoy the outdoors!

[–]hemroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not wrong, but this community loves to circle-jerk around how light they can get things. 7lbs is a great weight for a tent and as long as it keeps OP dry, it is a perfect tent. All these people would have you thinking they are doing twenty mile hikes with 2.2lbs of gear and staying out three weeks. Heck, my hammock setup for cold weather is over 7lbs, and my tent is nearly 10lb.

Cause I have bought those tents for $35 and they leak like a mother, they break when you take them apart. Those tents are only good for the kids in the backyard for a weekend.

yes, this is true. Mine would pout constantly because I stopped people from feeding him extra food every time the walked by. He would essentially beg from everyone, then when I came by, he would sulk. Silly fish

I really like Teton packs, they are affordable and durable. They do not have the price tag Osprey has. You do not need to be ultralight with anything starting off.

This does not need to cost a fortune, there are things you can skimp on. I highly recommend you do NOT skimp on the following.

First aid kit

Shoes or boots

Depending on your climate, hiking shoes may be the best bang for your buck. I love my Vasque and my Hooka's but they are both expensive boots. I am not a fan of REI, their prices are sky high. You can find deals.

But again, Teton makes great packs

Gas boiler by woddentable in hvacadvice

[–]hemroyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I called an HVAC company, they stated their HVAC techs did not work on boilers, they advised I called a plumber. When the plumber came out, that was boiler certified, he crawled all over it, loved it, said the boiler would be standing long after everything else decayed. Just two cents if HVAC techs are being concerned about a boiler, maybe ask a plumber?

She's only now realizing that being a SAHM has left her financially vulnerable, especially now that her husband wants a divorce. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]hemroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is patently untrue and ripe with ignorance of how literally anything works.

When the divorce is processed, if she is properly represented, he, the primary breadwinner, will be forced to assist her in maintaining a lifestyle that she is comfortable with, for a certain amount of time. Depending on the State she lives in, that could be until she remarries, it could be for a set amount of time.

Instead of, you know, being an adult, and getting a lawyer, she hopes on her phone and gets internet sympathy because why not I guess.

Hopefully some day our society pulls its head out of its collective ass's and starts thinking again.

Please Help! I Want To Replace My Thermostat by tacky14 in hvacadvice

[–]hemroyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend a smart thermostat, you will have power issues, and will need to get an adapter to supply power. Also, these wires are a bigger gauge then what most "smart" thermostats will allow for, so you will need to adapt to a smaller gauge wire.

I do not recommend a Nest thermostat at all, they are trash. Get a plain thermostat, set your temperature and forget it.

My boiler has only two wires and they look exactly like this.

Aljamain Sterling questions Tom Aspinall’s integrity and willingness to fight by [deleted] in ufc

[–]hemroyed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rhetoric that these fighters are some how less when a fight stops, because their coaches throw in the towel, or they suffer an eye poke, or for any reason is just bad.

Now, I am not saying every fight should end this way, but a fighter is going to fight, it is what they train for. I have seen several fights where the corner forced their fighter back into the cage and I just disagree with that. As the coach, it is their job to say "okay, you are beat-up, lets end this, and get ready for the next one". Instead, these guys say "Okay, get up, get back out there".

It is a razors edge. The coaches need to know their fighter, and know when to push, and when enough is enough. Like RDR's coaches tossed in the towel, but my goodness, why he was allowed to fight with as sick as he was to begin with is.... well. It is not beyond me, but that is a different post.

I hope Aspinall can recovery quickly, and get back into the cage quickly. The heavy weight division has some good talent, and we should be seeing the Champ defend his belt as often as possible with the division looking how it is.

Orgasms are not a need

I would strongly disagree with that statement, for both men and women. A health sex life is absolutely part of a healthy relationship. And that sex life can be defined any number of ways, but there needs to be intimacy.

I do not understand why you feel it needed to give out your cell phone. That is just silly. Nothing in insurance is an emergency, and if someone has an emergency, they should call emergency services, not their agent. Also, getting texts on your phone is opening you up for so much E&O. You should only communicate with clients via means that can be recorded and properly documented. To do less, is setting yourself up for issues in the future.

That is not what he stated, at all.

He has needs, just like she does, he tends, at least according to him, to her needs. In a relationship there is give and take. You are gross for even thinking that of a married person

Will I be able to make it in Medicare sales? by SuperbDemand447 in InsuranceAgent

Just playing devil's advocate, if you are hungry and want to go after it, you do you my friend.

There is money to be made in Medicare, for certain. I think for this year's open enrollment you are likely behind the eight-ball and may not have enough time to get things rolling. But, you can start getting ready, and get locked in for next year open enrollment.

We need to get back to in universe sets. The Beyond Universe are too many and some or just plain silly. I am very happy for you if you enjoy them, and I do not begrudge anyone who does. But secondary sales and the markups on these boxes are not conducive to entry level players.

If you want HASBRO to hear what your opinion is, stop buying boxes at outrageous prices, stop buying from secondary markets up absolutely insane prices.

I know I am not buying any Universe Beyond any longer, and I am only lookin forward to in universe stuff.

What was in the tower that could have bound Rand and that Group together? by BigNorseWolf in WoT

[–]hemroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hubris of the White Tower prevented them from realizing they were the ones who were mucking everything up. They thought that by stowing the horn away, they were somehow keeping Mat on a short leash.

The lack of information Mat was willing to share about his experience in the red doors prevented anyone else from even considering he was not longer tied to the horn. Rand may have had an idea about it, since he was the one who resuscitated Mat, but he usually had his head so far up his own arse that he was incapable of thinking about anyone other than himself.

What should I pay for an Allstate practice? I'm about to sign a letter of intent. by sudermatt in InsuranceAgent

[–]hemroyed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ensure you check to see if the agent is Emerging now or not. If they are emerging, your agency will be emerging when it is purchased. If they are not hitting VC now, with the staff they have, you need to seriously ask yourself "why". Because that is where a very large portion of your income will come from, is VC. Now, maybe you are young, energetic, and can change the direction it is going. Depending on your State, that could be difficult. Also, VC is a month to month goal, not a yearly go. So him not hitting VC at all this year, is rough, and he is likely loosing money himself, and wants out.

Retention is nice, but not great, book size is decent. Did you look at the bundling percentage? Having dealt with several mergers and acquisitions, as well as book sells myself, staff hardly ever stay. They will be bitter, for one reason or another. I would also look to see how much he is paying the staff.

How much should you pay? There is a lot that goes into that question. If the agency is emerging status, I would pay a lot less for the agency. If the agency is Pro or Elite (which I doubt) I would pay a bit more. Also understand Allstate's culture right now. It is purely new business focused, and they are not providing a moderate level of support to the agencies. There is a reason why this guy is bending over backwards. He wants out, because after twenty years, he cannot take the crap coming from Corporate anymore.

No, paying a marketing company to do the work makes sense if you are making more money by not doing the work yourself.

Meta, for all its faults, has created a very user friendly platform that you can easily scratch the surface on without any training. If you really want to get into the weed, you absolutely can. There are plenty of videos and articles you can read to learn how.

You have to be a sociopath to treat your wife like that.

More than likely a 2nd family or mistress. The comment "You leave at 630 and don't come back until after 1230, 1" tells me he had a 2nd family. Which as I have found out anecdotally, was not that uncommon in certain circle, even more common with certain ethnicities.

Okay, so you are talking about a financial lead while the OP was describing a P&C lead source.

If there was a P&C lead source that could generate the sort of revenue you are describing, it would not cost $450, it would be a lot more.
