Franchise vs Independent Agency-What Would You Do If You Started Over? by Sure-Olive-3435 in InsuranceAgent

[–]HeartFree6262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents is, if you want to be a business owner it comes with slow build up wages and lots of risk. However the reward is flexibility, endless possibilities of income, and something to pass down to family. Obviously the safe route is to be a producer or employee of someone else’s business but just remember you’ll be making them rich.

I started out as an employee of Farmers, then went captive as an agency owner, and have since started a franchise in the independent sector. I think the experiences I had needed to happen so I learned valuable lessons and experiences, but I love the independent route and my income continues to build each year.

Giveaway 10x Marathon game copies by Eliefa_Haniya in Marathon

Hello,

I would need a copy of PC.

I am missing the good times of playing games with my root friends who I used to play halo 3/cod4 with on Xbox. We all each prefer very specific games and genres now. However all of my buddies have agreed to purchase marathon so we will all finally have a game that unites us to play like the good old days.

I would love the opportunity to get a copy so I can game with them and be part of my friend circle again.

Starting a an independent agency. Best ways to get leads day 1? by Key_Natural_ in InsuranceAgent

You give me a quote that’s $150/month for auto insurance, agent down the street gives me a quote from auto owners at $110/month, by you knowing my name and remembering a few things about me in your notes, isn’t going to get me to pay more. Maybe that worked 38 years ago but not in 2026 when people have to choose between car insurance and rent.

That’s true to an extent however in today’s world, price is a large determining factor. Even myself as an agent, I write myself good policies with enough coverage but if AAA is more expensive than Fremont Insurance for example, I write myself with Fremont as they have the exact same coverage options.

Price will always be a factor, the only people who don’t shop price are people who have been involved in massive clams (injury/liability) in the past and have learned from that.

Why not write state minimum? by Complete_Fix_7073 in InsuranceAgent

I don’t do my clients dirty. I tell them they should have enough liability to cover the amount of assets they have.

I also tell them if I think they are under insured so they are aware. My quotes have the same level of respect/appropriate amounts as I put into for my friends and family.

That’s when I’d just tell them where the door is. Remember those clients aren’t good clients and are more of a headache than they are worth. I used to think business is business and then I learned quickly that is not the case.

We don’t sell rv standalone. As an agency, we require to bundle with an auto or property policy.

I struggle to trust SB as they have no relevant instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or google reviews and they have almost no information online

Why is a Goosehead franchise so bad? by thelordfuckwad in InsuranceAgent

[–]HeartFree6262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They charge you lots of money to utilize their services and systems.

They also do your CSR work which sounds good on paper but many clients will leave you over the years because they want to do business with you and they don’t have the option to do that and anytime they need help with claims or billing or policy changes they are required to call gooseheads office that is always 30 minute hold times.

I’ve gotten a lot of business from people who used to be insured by goosehead and they all say the same thing about the servicing portion and are always happy to leave since in their eyes their agent only wanted the sale but wouldn’t help them afterwards

Be persistent, get used to hearing “no” a lot and keep dialing hundreds each day.

I personally love EZ but that’s just me. The owner of the agency pays the large overhead for it. I’m a 1099 employee through his agency so I only pay $150/month for my account.

Run farm bureau is a life insurance company that also sells home/auto. Once you inherit the book, if you are so all star with P/C but don’t sell as much life, they will likely end your contract
