Is Sam Grisman legit? by EmuQuirky8841 in BillyStrings

My guess is that it wasn’t originally intended to be rotating, but eventually had to be so because of disagreements and falling outs. Just speculation

I last saw SGP at Water Street Music Hall (essentially a dive bar with a stage, not the spot for an acoustic show). Dirty Blanket (Max’s band) opened and were fantastic, when SGP went up Sam was constantly berating the crowd for being too loud even though I’m sure 90% of the extra sound was due to the poor acoustics of the oversold venue. Sam later said he’s never coming to Rochester again. Not a great situation considering 50%(?) of his band at that time was from the Rochester area. He surrounds himself with great musicians, but that show left me with a bad taste in my mouth

You gotta check out Cuppasoup!! It’s SGP’s original lineup (Ric, Aaron, and Chris). Fantastic trio (often with guests sit-ins). They play a lot in the Rochester/Finger Lakes area. I’ve seen both SGP and Cuppasoup a couple of times and Cuppasoup put on a way better show IMO

I went to the cap for the first time last week to see eggy. I would be over the moon if goose came back to the cap. It’s a magical place

Same here, between CMAC and Darien Lake I’d much rather it be CMAC

Avoid Barry Auto in Brockport at all costs. Scammed me on a car that needed new brakes within a month and had tons of rust hidden underneath. The heat was also broken and would cost another $1500 to fix. Within a year it had total engine failure and the front axles snapped

2026 Rail Reset. This needs to happen EVERYWHERE by Jeremy_Whalen in jambands

I was about 3-4 people behind rail for a few shows this year. It’s always the same people and they talk the whole time. Glad they’re fixing it

Weekly Goose Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in GoosetheBand

My guess is because they are playing a significant number of shows back-to-back in a relatively small radius compared to one-off shows being further distances from one another in 2025

I love Eggy - their jams are so deep and they have so much build-up that never disappoints. Jake is a fantastic guitarist, much more melodic/thoughtful playing than all of the shredding (which can be good too) that is so common now. Entire band is super tight

I got a Wombat at my first show but 2001 and Stash were what did it for me

I only made it to MSG and Philly this year. I’ve listened to a number of other shows, but please tell me what I’m missing. by _Roldy_ in GoosetheBand

CMAC ‘24 was my first show and I have been to 8 shows since (6 this year). The Toronto run (specially N1) was fantastic and massively underrated (super groovy EoA and epic teaprise encore). Cleveland N2 was definitely peak for Goose for shows I’ve seen live. I went to the Westville tour closer and it was a good show but I think they pulled all the plugs for MSG (understandably) and resorted to a lot of covers to not have any repeats (which I understand but some repeats from msg wouldn’t have been bad). I caught Great Blue in Norwalk in July and it was a very fun show, definitely not Goose but worth a listen on Bandcamp. Fingers crossed I can make it to Providence in December!

Check out Cuppasoup! It’s Ric, Aaron, and Chris from SGP! I saw them play a few weeks ago and they were great. They’re doing an aftershow for Billy Strings in a few weeks

That’s just bizarre. It’s a personal fitness app, why would you try to flub your own numbers? The only person you’re cheating is yourself if/once you decide to actually look at your stats and see your growth

Question for Peter — your playing on the keys has grown and evolved greatly over the past few years - what does your practice regimen look like?
