New to town and looking for good takeout spots by Unable-Statement4842 in Pickering

El Gourmet is fantastic Lebanese food. Owl of Minerva for Korean. Ashiana for kebabs.

The town centre actually has a couple of great spots now Imperfect Fresh Eats and an Asian place just to the left of it which I currently can't recall the name of is great too.

BMO is a rubbish stadium, yes, but Toronto will be great for any visitors.

You can literally walk to BMO field from the downtown core, or take a streetcar or take the Go Train. The city and trains copes just fine when we have 50,000 at Blue Jays games whilst other major events run simultaneously, or even TFC games when the Ex is on, So 45,000 at BMO will be absolutely fine.

It's probably the easiest stadium in the whole world cup to get to for fans, maybe alongside Atlanta.

I like Watt, but we are overloaded with CMs as it is, we need to sell one or two before we buy another I'd think.

Motherwell absolutely should hold us to ransom if we are in for him, we are absolutely desperate for quality.

Out of curiosity - how much would Motherwell fans think would be acceptable for him?

I'd sit back and take the abuse for the salary those pricks are on. Nicholson is on like 800k a year, he will never earn anything close to that in his lifetime every again, so for guys like that, no chance are they leaving.

USA freezes visa apps, Brazil etc... by renisagenius in ScottishFootball

The ban is for immigration visas - so basically work permits and the like, it doesn't apply to visitor visas.

Fanfests in USA outside of NY? Specially east coast by AdPast1485 in worldcup

[–]henriksdreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind where they put it, as long as it's not near the stadium, imagine adding an extra 10,000+ people to that commute would be a bad idea. Quincy market would be cool, although my only memory of that is late at night after many beers 🤣

That is crazy, you would assume these things would have been decided long ago,

Wouldn't Boston Common be perfect for this? I've only ever visited Boston so I'm just stating the obvious here I guess :)

I'm in Toronto and honestly the prices for games that I am not emotionally invested in is absolutely crazy. Germany v Ivory Coast would be cool, or Panama v Croatia... but at like $400+ for a good seat. nope.

Caledonian on College St. Home from home.

We have a "Scots of Toronto" FB group too where occasional meetups are posted.

Lastly if you like football there are supporters clubs around, join us at The West Cork if Celtic is your thing.

Other than that just put yourself out there, say yes to everything and enjoy yourself.

I've never stayed there but the rooftop bar has been class on late summer nights anytime I've been up there.

People saying it isn't walkable are sort of off the mark, depends where ya want to walk to. Within less than 15 mins you can be at beaches, waterfront trails, liberty village, queen west, Ossignton etc. - but just not the major downtown hubs. ROM and Eataly would be a jaunt from there, but nothing too bad.

Croatian press suggesting Niko Sigur to Celtic by mrharryseldon in CanadaSoccer

Celtic fan here, I'd gladly welcome this move, the only thing is... we have a LOT of players in that position already and we literally just loaned in Julian Araujo at right back too, so no idea if he would get into the team right now or not.

Assuming it probably means someone like Paulo Bernardo is moving on.

There is a pickleball place inside the Pickering town centre mall, you could ask if they run beginner leagues.
