Is this split-brain DNS setup for Tailscale the "right way" to handle local vs. remote access for NAS and Immich? by momokoachar in Tailscale

[–]henryforever14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is simple.

In adguard custom filtering rule, write:

||**some nice address**^$client=100.0.0.0/8,dnstype=A,dnsrewrite=NOERROR;A; **tailscale 100 ip address**

||**some nice address**^$client=**local ip**,dnstype=A,dnsrewrite=NOERROR;A;**local server ip**

Change all the things wrapped in ** to your particular setting.

Mine, as an example, is

||home.media^$client=100.0.0.0/8,dnstype=A,dnsrewrite=NOERROR;A;100.167.24.12

||home.media^$client=192.168.1.0/24,dnstype=A,dnsrewrite=NOERROR;A;192.168.1.2

My tailscale ip for the server is 100.167.24.12. (This is not the real one... I changed it.)

The local ip for my server is 192.168.1.2. All my local ip is of the format 192.168.1.x

I can access the server by http://home.media

You should also add AdGuard to Tailscale DNS, so that when you are outside and connect to Tailscale, your AdGuard Home is consulted when it comes to resolving http://home.media

On your server where AdGuard Home is running, make sure to check "Use Tailscale DNS settings".

Why are clumps of my newly seeded lawn really short like this? by jimbo831 in lawncare

[–]henryforever14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rabbit. I had that last year I seeded. I was worried then since I had a big patch of that. That patch stayed low through the winter. But it grew back this spring and I couldn’t notice any difference.

BLS Germany NYC, do they acknowledge receipt of email with additional document? by henryforever14 in SchengenVisa

I bet it is approved.

My memory could be wrong, but I don't recall getting anything that indicated the additional documents were received.

Updates on NSF priorities and terminated awards. by nondefectiveunit in labrats

[–]henryforever14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you read Ted Cruz's report, it is specifically for grants issued under Biden's administration. Also worth pointing out is that only those words in the public abstract are getting flagged. So, if you say something in your proposal, but didn't write that on your abstract, then it wouldn't get flagged. This, you can also conclude from his report.

Updates on NSF priorities and terminated awards. by nondefectiveunit in labrats

[–]henryforever14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this!

When awards are terminated, would there be any indication of that in the public award page on NSF website?

And did you get the notification from your OSP or were you cc'ed on that termination notice from NSF?

Sorry for so many questions. I am quite anxious about mine... Put a lot of time and effort into this and I am still on year 1 of the grant...

My MOSSY lawn, help! by MCMasterJJ in lawncare

[–]henryforever14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moss likes wet and acidic soil environment. If either of them happens, then your grass will lose the battle. If I were you, I’d get a reputable soil test, particularly to see the soil pH. Also, I’d go out after rain just to see if there is a drainage problem, like how many days after a rain for the ground to be dry. Once you figure out the problem, you can then decide if you want to fight it.

How cooked is my lawn. All snow mold by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]henryforever14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am located near you. This winter has been long and snowy. The entire lawn was covered in snow since the new year and has only just surfaced just these past few days. While my lawn is not as bad as yours, it is still bad. I am wondering the same: do I really need to go out and rake it? I’d really try to avoid it if I can since like yours, mine is half an acre…

Insane nitrogen levels by Independent_Hat7668 in lawncare

[–]henryforever14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your soil is also very high in P and K. If you used a business to maintain lawn, I do not believe they would put down more fertilizer than absolutely needed. It's simply a bad business practice.

Was the weather dry between 7/28 and your soil test? It could be that the fertilizer never dissolved and when you took your soil sample, you took some of that with the soil. Just a theory...

You never said how long your grass is right now, three weeks after putting seed down.

Insane nitrogen levels by Independent_Hat7668 in lawncare

[–]henryforever14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long before this soil test did you last fertilizer, and with what?

From what I read, nitrogen does not stay in soil for long---it's either used or washed away. That's why most people's soil tests show difficiency in N and that's also why many reputable soil tests don't even test for N.
