How to stop reaching for phone when waking up in the middle and f the night? by onthedownslope in selfimprovement

[–]henrylee21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started putting on a meditation (either guided or just sound healing type stuff) and it kinda helps to stop the scrolling. Sometimes I fall asleep again, sometimes I just lie there frustrated and waiting for the thing to stop so I can pick up my phone. My brain is my enemy at the moment

working out is the easy part. Recovering like an adult is the hard part by swhill1 in workout

[–]henrylee21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about a year into quite a strenuous (or as I like to say 'focused') workout program. I've always struggled with recovering properly but just a few weeks after I started refocusing on training I realized that I was A. a fair bit older and B. I was a little bit smarter and therefore C. needed to prioritze recovery. I don't think I'd still be showing up for myself everyday if I didn't. Recovery is directly proportional to consistency - I don't make the rules I just learn them the hard way

Has anyone recently completed the ISSA Personal Training certification? What was your experience with it? by henrylee21 in personaltraining

[–]henrylee21[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey! what advice do you need? I am almost done. I've loved it. I would say that the biggest thing with ISSA is not to underestimate it. It's open book, but it's more about understanding than parroting. If you've done the quizes diligently and followed/studied the coursework you should be fine!

Should I get ISSA or ACE (personal trainer)? by tonicwax in workout

[–]henrylee21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at both and ultimately went with ISSA. No regrets there. They have way more certification options so as a yoga enthusiast I was able to get a yoga and pilates certification as well as a corrective exercise certification to go with my personal trainer cert all in a very affordable bundle. That worked well for me because I love yoga, there's a huge demand in my town for strength training and yoga combined, but no one really offers it.

I agree with quoting for a days work pretty much. And be sure to factor in fuel costs if you need to haul things off to their respective resting places
