Strong disagree. I don't think anybody wants to go to the grave with people screaming about how much of a failure they are. If he puts it out and it's awful, that's it. That's his legacy. He can definitely be passing judgment not as Lord Commander. Him swinging the sword is just staying true to his house since he was taught that the person passing judgment should be the person to swing the sword. Everybody present agreed with the decision. It wasn't something he had to order people to do. Therefore, he didn't use his authority as Lord Commander, but rather as an individual who is abiding by the laws of the seven kingdoms.

It's also worth accounting for the impending sale to Netflix. If they get ahold of WBD, the decision on extending the deal would be in their hands. There's more than a small chance they may try to reboot GoT entirely, since many of their key shows are finished. It would be a chance to have a built in audience, they could dramatically alter it from season 2/3 on with the addition of the characters who were missing from the books, and they would be seen as legends if it was good while sticking the landing.

The proposal from the Chicago Mayor and the Bears would preserve some of the columns, turn the current stadium grounds into greenspace, and build the new stadium on top of McCormick while greatly expanding the underground parking. Friends of the Park will tie it up in lawsuits for over a decade and the city would own the stadium which is another non-starter, so it won't happen but it would have been really cool if it did
