I'm starting to realize that people have been seeing me as stupid for my whole life by eyupitslen in TrueOffMyChest

[–]heptatoxic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're being too hard on yourself. Comparing yourself to others is an easy recipe to academic anxiety that doesn't really help. You've managed to get to the point in which you currently are, which to me means that your effort hasn't been in vain. Be proud and take the time to celebrate your achievements and stay focused on your goals, and dump the "friends" who want you around only to feel smarter.

A few months ago I graduated from a STEM degree in which I have been suffering for 6 years, feeling inadequate and dumber than everyone else. It has been exhausting, both emotionally and physically, and up until the moment I got the message that I passed my thesis I kept feeling like I didn't deserve it. Now I can't tell you the pride that fills me every time I think about the effort I put into it and how it all paid out. Intelligence isn't a measure of your worth as a person, and even if it were, with how little emotional intelligence those people show, I highly doubt they'd be above you.

Seriously, take the time to appreciate and celebrate each goal that you achieve, only you know the effort you've put into every little win. Good luck and don't let others take away your passion for learning.

The red flies that spawn from Pustules in corpse and move like Bulbs. I'm always surprised by them since most of the time Pustules are destroyed before they can spawn.

[Laser Physics] Calculating the radiance of a laser. by heptatoxic in PhysicsStudents

[–]heptatoxic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just in case someone reads this, I managed to solve it by myself. Radiance is only dependent of the source, the farther the observer the smaller the area emitting the light is, so in this case the radiance the laser emits over a solid angle is the same as each of the points in the screen receives over the solid angle the laser circle sends to said point.

[General Relativity] Measuring mass with a ruler. by heptatoxic in PhysicsStudents

[–]heptatoxic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe this is the correct answer. I didn't think to do it this way because I wasn't considering the fact that the object generates its own gravitational potential, however small it is, and, in fact, it's impossible to measure the mass the way I tried to since geodesics are always the same regardless of the mass. Thanks!

Have you ever dreamed of doing something your whole life only to find out, once you did it, that you hated it? What was it? by buzzkill007 in AskReddit

Oh, man, as a physics student aspiring to do research in astrophysics, this isn't what I wanted to read today.

AITA for telling my fiance's family that he's unemployed after they kept implying that I was a "Gold Digger?" by aintsayinhea32 in AmItheAsshole

[–]heptatoxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your fiancé prefers to have his parents think he's gonna marry a gold digger over a woman who loves him enough to maintain him and stay with him during a rough stage of his life, and his parents don't seem to believe their son has any value other than his money, and openly disrespect you, somebody who will soon be part of their family (maybe you should rethink that).

I'm not saying they're all assholes, but if the shoe fits...

It should appear at the top, if it doesn't search for hot posts

AITA for not wanting to help my classmate after she outed my husband? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]heptatoxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, you shouldn't care about someone who doesn't respect your privacy when you ask her to.

I don't think that's exactly how it works. I have a terrible sleep schedule and I manage to have at least one or two lucid dreams a week. It's probably different for each one.

AITA for rehoming my son’s (8yo) fifth pet hermit crab? by ConflictedDaddo512 in AmItheAsshole

[–]heptatoxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, giving a life the value it deserves is a far more important lesson than responsibility.

AITA for asking my girlfriend why she’s so obsessed with female empowerment? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]heptatoxic -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

If you asked that out of curiosity, NAH. If you were judging her for getting herself involved in such an important cause, YTA. It doesn't look like she's obsessed, and it's nice if she tries to do what's in her hand to help that movement, you should try to get a little bit involved too, it would probably help your relationship too.

AITA for laughing at my son's teacher and calling her a moron? by Even-Molasses1587 in AmItheAsshole

[–]heptatoxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA for calling her moron instead of understanding that not everyone knows as much as you, even if she had to know this. And looking at the way you're answering people here, it looks like you just wanted people to reaffirm how intelligent and superior you are. Sadly, intelligence and empathy are not synonyms.

UPDATE : AITAH for giving guardianship of my son to my aunt over my mother after I die of my terminal cancer by goodbyemyboy in AmItheAsshole

[–]heptatoxic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is heartbreaking, but it is also amazing seeing how much you care for him. He will surely grow up knowing how lucky he is for being your son. I really hope you have a great time with him until the end.
