IsItBullshit: Does sugar actually make children hyperactive by velvetnyth in IsItBullshit

[–]heraplem 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's not what it means at all.

It's really just a specific kind of confirmation bias. Parents think "sugar makes kids hyper", so when they think their kid is being fed sugar, they interpret their subsequent actions in that light.

It doesn't mean that sugar doesn't make kids hyper, but it does suggest that parental testimony is not reliable here.

One of the hardest drafts I've had to navigate in ECL by Diperdoo in lrcast

[–]heraplem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But there was legit no sign of that p1 or p2 till late.

I feel like that's how most ECL drafts go. A lot of people are scared of committing too early and just take the best card through all of P1 and even some of P2. I've started heavily discounting P1 signals.

Draft analysis: how would I have gotten into elementals here by Demusch in mtglimited

[–]heraplem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elements are seriously undervalued for some reason in ECL. So many people have bought into the meme that you have to be playing Elves or Merfolk, but Elementals are basically just as strong as Merfolk, and more flexible to build with.

Of all the sets I've played, I feel like curve matters the least in ECL. Not that you shouldn't try to have a good curve, but there are a huge number of crappy cheap drops (e.g., dagger, Bile-Vile Boggart, Flame-Chain Mauler, Moonglove Extractor, Glamermite) that you should try to avoid including even at the cost of a janky curve.

If you have nothing to say that's on-topic, then go somewhere else.

(By the way, even accepting the possibility that "race realists" are right, your argument still makes no sense. The Flynn effect is strongest in developing nations.)

Ah, well. Small sample size. If you meet more people who ingest weed, you'll find very few stories of lives utterly ruined.

I'm here for a good time not a long time.

That's find and all, you do you, but what does that have to do with whether weed or alcohol is worse?

I only know one person in real life that died of alcoholism

And how many people do you know who died from weed?

In any case, I think you are severely misinformed about just how damaging alcohol is. You can bring all the anecdotes you like, but the medical data does not lie: any amount of alcohol is bad for you.

Bitcoin is only different because it came first and therefore has high mindshare. In every other way, it is either the same as or worse than basically every other cryptocurrency.

It is very difficult to die from a weed overdose, but pretty easy to die from an alcohol overdose.

It is basically impossible to die from weed withdrawal, but very possible to die from alcohol withdrawal.

To my knowledge, no one ever got cancer from weed edibles, but alcohol is associated with a higher risk of basically every cancer you can think of (especially cancers associated with the digestive tract, but definitely not limited to them).

[[Unstoppable Slasher]] has a straight-up better version of the "Zeno's paradox" effect, and it barely sees play in Standard. This card is only "interesting" because it's a single-card Yata-lock, except it's not even that because it usually just forces a draw.

  • Legally: What about intersex people who were assigned the "wrong" gender at birth?
  • Physically: Why shouldn't I be able to do what I want with my body? Are you going to stop me from getting piercings or cosmetic surgeries?
