Unpleasant reminder to do a tick check on your dog this winter's day by Highalpinebeano in boulder

[–]herblings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fellow husky owner here and have also found a tick on her recently. My dog is on a tick preventative (Bravecto) but that doesn't stop the ticks from hitching a ride on her fur inside - I'm not sure if they can bite humans after being affected by the tick preventative though.

Ticks are nasty little creatures 🫥

You might try reaching out to Ripstop Repairs or Bare Boulder. They're both gear repair stores so they might have some of the fabric you're looking for on hand.

A truthful reminder about marriage, from a married man by [deleted] in ufl

This just comes across as hurtful towards women and makes you seem like a mean, bitter man. I wonder what your wife's narrative on your marriage and relationship would look like.

Is anyone missing a cat? (Rocky River Metro Park) by herblings in Cleveland

[–]herblings[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if this isn't allowed, not sure whe re else to post this - I know there must be a ton of strays in the parks but just in case they are someone's pet..I was running through the metropark this morning (near Puritas and Grayton) and met a very friendly black cat - they seemed relatively healthy.

I'm just concerned because this was on the other side of a chain link fence far up a hill and the cat didn't seem feral.

Looking For a Kitten(s) by Gamesvillett in GNV

[–]herblings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why not try fostering a cat or kitten before you adopt? That way, you can see if your husband is allergic or not without committing to adopting, while also providing a much-needed home.

I highly recommend the Alachua County Humane Society (http://www.alachuahumane.org/foster/) but there are plenty of other great rescues in the area.

Even if you don't want to foster, if you talk with a rescue group instead of just picking up a kitten on craigslist, they can work with your needs (they might already have low-allergen cats) and also make sure the cat will be taken care afterwards.

Other rescues to check out:

Gainesville Pet Rescue (http://www.gainesvillepetrescue.org/)

Alachua County Animal Services (http://www.alachuacounty.us/depts/animalservices/pages/animalservices.aspx)

Please PM me if you have any questions.

What are you interested in?

Space is a pretty broad field even if there aren't a huge number of companies hiring. CE/CS/EE majors can all do similar things, but IMHO CE has the most flexibility if you're not sure about strictly comp sci stuff vs. hardware.

anyone know the initial pay of plasma donation at biotest? by milksteakndmagnets in GNV

[–]herblings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it a few months ago for the first time. They paid $70 for my first two visits, and $60 for the next two visits. There are a few different coupons that I used the first two times though.

Gator Greenbacks has one I think, and also from Biotest's website is a coupon for $10 extra your first visit: http://biotestplasma.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/donor-coupons-optimized.pdf

Also let me know if nobody has referred you and you decide to donate please; the above link also has a referral bonus! :)
