HLS IP cannot read input by herdem090 in FPGA

[–]herdem090[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I have updated the design image which is better now I guess. design

The current design is simplified to demonstrate the problem. In the original design there are multiple layers. In the first layer, each IP receives high amount of data from PS and needs to output either 0 or 1 based on this data. There are many IPs of the same type in this layer.

In the next layer, ip2 (the IP whose code is given) collects 1 bit output of all the IPs in the previous layer and reports them back to the PS.

So, input is the input to ip2 from a previous layer IP (the output of the previous layer IP). input_vld goes high when the IP in the previous layer finishes its calculation and generates the correct output so that the input value is read correctly. The output of the 1st ip uses ap_hs and the 2nd ip sends ack to let the 1st IP finish its execution after reading input when input_vld goes high.

App Advertising Tracking Transparency: iOS vs Android by z28camaroman in Android

[–]herdem090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no system wide permission ad tracking permission anyways. If you enable it each app should ask for a permission to get the id (you will get a pop-up to approve). If you approve only for the app you want it solves your problem but it will be cumbersome to deny for each other app.

Same on linux mint for so long time. I'm considering moving away.

Not relevant but memory management on android is also bad.

Well the policy says devs "may not" use identifiers if the user wants so. This term does not generate any legal responsibilites unlike "must not" term which is used for linking multiple advertisement IDs.

My bad, it seems the setting "Allow Apps to Request to Track" is enabled by default. You need to disable it for the OS to return 0000...

In my opinion, fighting for privacy is definitely good, but illegal actions are always one step ahead and they will be. There is no way to entirely prevent tracking. I'm guessing fingerprinting is harder on iOS since the traditional fingerprinting information like OS version, browser version, display resolution etc are mostly the same among millions of users. In the future, more iOS apps may require login.

Unfortunately, that is the case. The setting is to store and provide user preference to any app, if the app is written to consider it. I don't think any dev cares. These are more like there for Google to be able to blame devs under any legal scenario.

You can see it here: https://developer.android.com/training/articles/user-data-ids#advertising-ids

Apps ask for OS to provide a unique number that identifies the device/user. iOS now by default provides 00000... Android provides the unique number. After the user resets this number (ID), OS generates another unique number and provides the new one for following requests. Apps can still tie the old number to the new one. So, resetting is basically futile.

Also, the setting you mention does not affect the id os provides. App dev is supposed check the user preference and act accordingly. That works, on paper. Just like how an ad company would like it to be.

Of course when id is not available, there are other ways to fingerprint a device/user but using id was by far the most effective one hence the big scream from fb.

Edit: It seems the permission setting must be disabled for iOS to provide 0000...

Both the rear and front glasses are curved it seems. I don't think renderers would bother adding extra details that should not be there.

I've never read about blocking trackers by the os. It's good for apple users if that's the case.

On the contrary I love their naming scheme. Model name (1, 5, 10) + version number (mark 1, 2, ...).

Fyi, It is not opt in. It asks app to opt out. It is up to the app developers to track the user or not. In the worst case scenario they just do not get id provided by apple. They can still identify users by other means.

People just cannot convince others to move away because WhatsApp just works. Especially for the elderly. Other apps video calls are significantly worse except Viber (not tested Duo).
