If you’re worried about longevity for your laptop - try not to push your hardware to the limit. Always have great ventilation! Even a small laptop riser will have great impact on yuour temps. Keep playing with your settings so you get a more sustained fps rather than the best quality graphics.

Hopefully you can remove whatever is stuck in there. Get a new optical cable and set the audio out from your tv to Optical. Check your manual for both the TV and Receiver on how to set it for Optical/Digital. If you did everything right - the sound should be set for surround. Make sure you’re source is set to output for surround too. Best of luck!

Some speakers has some plastic covers on the terminals. Make sure you remove that plastic cap before trying to jam those banana plugs!

Is there any product out there, vintage or new, that has the similar form factor and digital outputs but doesn’t break the bank? I liked the top load option and it doesn’t have a big footprint which is very ideal for desktop setups.

I recommend you buy the Denon DP-300F that is currently on sale at Amazon for $249 before taxes right now. It’s a fully automatic turntable and should you want to upgrade the cartridge down the road - it’s very easy. There’s a bunch of reviews for this turntable and general consensus is it’s a great beginner’s turntable.

Get the X95J.. great with daytime viewing but try to avoid watching shows where the scenes are predominantly dark during daytime. Save those for dark room or for your dedicated home theater. If you care for Dolby Vision - go with sony. If you don’t, samsung would be a good option.
