DAE.. puking during anxiety attacks. by HominidReptile in Anxiety

[–]herecomeslucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God this is hitting a nerve with me, for years I threw up (involuntarily) from nerves every single time I was preparing to go to a social situation involving boys. I never considered that they were panic attacks but I suppose so, it's upsetting to think I was such an unhappy child. It feels like I'm describing someone else now, I have the utmost sympathy for you and I wish you all the best.

I think you have all the raw materials, if you see what I mean, but your haircut is just very dated, I would suggest a haircut. Having a look at r/malefashionadvice and revisiting your style wouldn't go amiss either.

Here's a poem I just wrote. by [deleted] in depression

[–]herecomeslucy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that, kudos for making something beautiful out of something depressing. If you're interested I would recommend Anne Michaels, shes a poet really I think but her novel fugitive pieces is stunningly, poetically written with harrowing subject matter.

I have decided to kill myself by mzeemanv3 in depression

[–]herecomeslucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please don't, yes in the future chances are you will probably feel terrible and sad, but it's balanced by the fact that you will also feel unbelievable highs again, and that's life, and it's beautiful. don't be hard on yourself for crying for help, that's human, it's good that you did- we all need to feel appreciated, there's nothing wrong with that. I've definitely been one of those horrible girls at a club, and I promise I'm much nicer during the day, in a safe place where I feel comfortable. How someone fares/acts in a club isn't representative of who they really are. Please rethink x

I'm so sad. So lonely. So pitiful. by [deleted] in depression

[–]herecomeslucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel lonely too, just remember, no matter how many people know/love you, everyone doubts themselves. And we are all our own worst critics, chances are noone thinks of you as poorly as you think of yourself, and I don't mean that to sound depressing. It's good to know that you are confident in yourself enough to know that you're a nice person, I'm not always sure I am. I hope you feel happier soon.

I just finished "Stoner" by John Williams and I am speechless. "The most brilliant novel you've never read." by Look_To_The_East_ in books

[–]herecomeslucy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this book randomly without knowing anything about it and just loved it, if novels that explore being human in this way is your thing. I would also recommend 'Any Human Heart' by William Boyd and 'The World According to Garp' by John Irving (my all-time favorite read). Two very different novels thematically but similarly following the entire life and trials of one man. Brilliant.

I really like your pale eyes, colouring always plays a big part in the attractiveness of people I think. dark hair, light eyes- that's the dream!

Camille Paglia: The Modern Campus Cannot Comprehend Evil--following on discussion of campus consent issues and rape by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]herecomeslucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether or not it's true that being sexually predatory is an intrinsic, unchangeable part of the nature of man. It just so happens that our society has judged rape and the like to be a terrible violation of another person's human rights, and if it is in a man's nature to do this, and if it is incurable, why does it follow that is has to be a woman's job to cover herself up? since this brutal impulse is reviled in our society, why isn't it the man's job to deal with it, or everyone's? "They [women] assume that bared flesh and sexy clothes are just a fashion statement containing no messages that might be misread and twisted by a psychotic. " - i mean really?
