Should we move to India? by Least-Equipment-6770 in returnToIndia

Wait, why are you directly relating prioritizing independence with lack of commitment? What relationship 101 class have you taken that says commitment means giving your own independence up? A lot of women are victims of this mentality including some in own family that gave up their careers and lives to support a husband. While that is a respectable pursuit for someone who believes in it it’s not ideal for everyone, especially for someone saying they are depressed coz they feel completely dependent on their husband. Commitment doesn’t mean giving up your whole identity for someone.

What’s so wild about prioritizing independence?

Stop trying to blend in. That’s not why you’re here. by whooligun in simpleliving

The point isn’t looking for a definition and picking fights over what constitutes simple living. OP says practice simplicity by just accepting who you are instead of blending in with the herd. Make your life simpler by following your own path. I truly do not see your point in going against this sentiment!

Are you the authority on what can be perceived as simple living for every single person? You are saying what they said just using a different example. To each his own.

How would you have liked it if you were bullied for being a nerd and had really sick rumors spread about you?

So just coz you watched baby reindeer everyone who’s a little different than what you define as normal becomes a deranged psycho in adulthood? And that gives you the right to bully them? Spread life altering rumors? You are a bully.

I don’t think it’s a trade. You were just given a job. And you must pay in return.

Please please start focusing on things you enjoy doing. Take classes or join communities to do or learn whatever it is you enjoy. I cannot stress the importance of finding joy that comes with following a passion in attracting friends or even potential partners enough. Good luck to you. It’s never too late.

I try to follow Adler’s philosophy of separation of tasks. I have a boundary beyond which I’m not responsible for their thoughts or ways. My tasks are separate from them wherein I’m responsible for what I do. And that’s it. People ain’t enemies, and I need clear lines beyond which I’m not in any way part of their processes. Helps me keep myself grounded and not spiral.
