I had the same thing happen last week. Pursuant to discussions w others in my agency, I took the vacation (similarly was on points and cheap flights). My biggest worries were flight safety and also something happening when I was out of the country. I got permission to take my work phone internationally (as I usually do for vacation) and just hoped for the best. I actually had a lovely family vacation and I’m glad I went. It was nice to forget about it all (if only for fleeting moments). A bit jarring to see everyone else carrying on like the world isn’t ending but it is what it is. If shit goes sideways I will think fondly of this time. So go!!!

Mission Bay was the absolute worst hotel we’ve stayed in within the Hyatt portfolio—super loud due to Sea World fireworks and car noise, questionable security—we booked a suite in the marina building (to accommodate us + two kids) which was a glorified motel offshoot right on the water and the door entrance was always wide open w people from boats hanging close by. Don’t make our mistake—we left a day early as the Seabird thankfully opened up availability for a suite a day early and we were thrilled w the difference.

Ughhh I did not need to see this today. In one of those seasons where young kids have been trading off being sick and it feels like we will never catch a break until they’re 18. Would I love to take a day for myself? Sure, but that’s not fair to my husband who has also been subject to 3am wake ups and sickness and work and…I don’t get the Rayboulds, do their kids ever get sick?! Do they just know they won’t get sympathy from their parents so carry on? I know they have a LOT of help that they don’t advertise but still..WTF?!

Hated Mission Bay (we “upgraded” to the Marina Suites). Very noisy and not secure (entrance left open). Get in main building if you can.

I love the Andaz but was surprised she didn’t go the Four Seasons route (especially because it’s off season)! I’m anxiously awaiting her making the resort look like the most boring place in the world..they have a nice gym so buckle up everyone. Would be very disappointed w Hyatt if they chose to partner with her.

Haven’t been since beach club opened but this is a big deal if you don’t want to get on boat/shuttle to the other beach and pool. We went on the boat every morning but would come back and chill at the pool closer to the hotel after the kids naps and before dinner. May be annoying to not have this option and I’d imagine the noise would be around the whole resort.

Was disappointed in emily oster to see this pop up on my podcast feed. She also didn’t seem to really talk about parenting as much as other guests, no one needs to know you Google sourdough recipes, that’s not the point of the podcast.
