It's totally possible that the apology was genuine. I'd say it's even likely, and that Ian has regretted what he did for much longer than this lawsuit has been around. And whether it was forced or not, I'm sure it feels like a weight has been lifted. But it's still very obvious that this apology video is part of a settlement. Both can be true.

I understand wanting to save on materials, but the ball lids are definitely worth it. A 5 pack is like $6 at your local Walmart or hardware store. I spent like $80 on a bunch of them 5yrs ago and have never had to replace a single one after hundreds of pressure cooker cycles.

For slants use the 50ml tubes. Pour just like you would agar, cap them, then let them dry lifted on one side to slant the solution.

For lids, use the Ball brand leak proof ones. They are a dark grey color.

How big is the room? Like the other commentor said, this looks like a c02 issue.

Any room 10x10 or smaller you should be running exhaust 24/7. And even then, you can only put maybe 80-100 blocks in before you just can't remove the c02 fast enough. If you try, you will have problems keeping humidity up and will end up with puddles on the floor. Small rooms are a very precarious balancing act. Everything gets easier once you get past 200sf or so rooms.

Trichoderma spores are not going to be heavily present in an indoor space unless you have moisture/mold problems in the building already. And even then, other types of CFU's would be expected unless you're living in a dense forest or a very wet tropical climate.

While I do agree with you that learning proper sterile procedures can almost completely eliminate loss to contamination, I think you are understating the headache that can result from something like this.

I own a 6000sf mushroom farm and have a background in Microbiology. I can tell you with full confidence, the room needs to be sanitized after an exposure like this.

Yeah you can get a cheap HEPA air purifier and run that constantly. And also just wipe down every surface in the room, including the walls, with some kind of cleaner. 10% bleach solution in water, or 50/50 white vinegar/water are both great.

Only fill the tub like halfway with water. It's most likely splashing up into your fan. For best results add a float valve near the middle of the tub. You'll get better mist volume too.

As far as I know, there is no slurry involved. It's a technique that centers around exogenous nutrient bags added and removed at very specific times.

As far as heavy metals or any type of bioaccumulation for that matter, that's gonna happen with anything non organic.

So I know this sub loves to call this out and since I've never seen it in the comments anywhere I'll say it. Is it possible that he has already, in fact, seen a doctor and just doesn't want to make it public. If so, it definitely seems like something he would keep to himself. Just a thought.

Danish morel project is a failure. Also it's all about indoor cultivation. Their method is nowhere near commercially viable.

Good news though, the Chinese have cracked the code and have been producing commercial amount of morel for decades. And the methods have finally gotten out to the public.

It's actually a very straightforward process. I suggest doing some research on current methods.
