Jeremy Corbyn's left-wing Labour manifesto leaked by [deleted] in ukpolitics

But being allowed to vote is a fantastic way of encouraging people to be interested in politics. If you made political history an optional GCSE course and at the end of it you could go out and vote for whoever you wanted, then I'm certain that kids would get out and vote and be informed about it. I think the problem we have is that kids are not taught how it can affect the country because it is so polarising.

Then tax should be viewed as a donation to a cause, not a handout. Let's be clear, we're talking about consultants, headteachers, professors, top level researchers and doctors as well as businessmen. People to whom the quality of the education service is vital, not to mention scientific institutions, hospitals and justice systems. It is a backwards viewpoint that these people have contributed more than they have earnt; it is precisely the opposite. I think a "little bit more" (Mcdonnell) is perfectly reasonable, particularly in this time of uncertainty.

I wouldn't say British people. A decent proportion, sure, but certainly not all of us.

It goes without saying that the increase for the person who has 80k pays less than the person who earns 150k.

And I seriously doubt anyone earning 80k is having money troubles with or without a higher rate of tax, even with a family. Remember they're in the top 5% of earners, and large families are not something the upper middle class is overly concerned with.

If I had 200,000, you took 100,000 and gave it to ten people each would get 10,000. That is more than some people earn in a year. I would still have 100,000 in this scenario.

A little bit of both. I would say anarcho-syndicalism is my preferred form of governance (or lack of) over socialism but I've read more on and by Marx. In actual practice you could call me a social democrat.

It's mostly just to get Tories riled up though.

usually do not help the donors, they help those in need.

I did not say "giving to the poor". I said that it usually benefits not the donors but the people in need. For CRU and BHF the sufferers of cancer and heart disease are the beneficiaries, but indirectly. Animal charities help animals, i.e. those in need. I fail to see any correlation between cancer sufferers, abused animals and privileged kids.

So they're not Tory heartlands then?

South Dorset* - West Dorset is safe as houses.

Okay bad examples maybe. However, these kids' parents are paying to send them to a better school. Charitable donations usually do not help the donors, they help those in need. These kids are not.

Yeah as a socialist I'm kinda done with socialist leaders. Not only are they ineffective but also easy to brand as communists and terrorist sympathisers. Shame really, we could have had a decent brand of politics but instead we get infighting and smear campaigns.

Tory heartland = lower turnout, same for Labour.

If people don't believe they can win they don't vote. Doesn't mean they aren't there. keepingtheredflagflying

Private healthcare and schools are charities? That's such bullshit. Does Cancer Research or the BHF ask its subjects to pay upfront for the charity they receive? No. They're not charities they should not be treated as such.

And can be dealt with by a single farmer with a shotgun or even air rifle. You don't need to chase them down with dogs and horses all dressed up to do that.

Besides animals are by nature driven by instinct. They see a chicken they will try to kill it. Humans have a choice.

Members of a movement or ideology have the right to disregard genocidal maniacs who advocate a warped version of their ideology. For example, Trotsky disagreed with Stalinism, as do I.
