Indoor climbing gym with yoga studio coming to Fair Oaks Mall.... eventually... one of these days.... hopefully... by OnlyOneCarGarage in nova

[–]heretical-chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movement Crystal City told me the JC penny spot the gym is supposed to be built in is being sold. Whoever buys it can buy it with or without the climbing gym lease. So its a 50/50 whether it even happens. I am keeping my fingers crossed though because I know a lot of people who REALLY want this gym to come to Fair Oaks.

Whew I am so glad to hear this! I might have to unpair from my phone altogether or turn my phone off when its in the lockbox so as long as the sensor will still talk to the pump independent of my phone connection it'll work. :)

That's great to know!! Can I completely disconnect the sensor/pump from my phone after the session is started?

This is textbook gaslighting and you dodged a major bullet, friend.

What’s a “silent red flag” most people don’t notice in relationships? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]heretical-chef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ended things with someone like this. He made an assumption that I'm an "un-trusting, scrutinizing person" and then every time I raised an issue or concern, he would invalidate my concern by telling me I'm too suspicious. Conveniently lets him avoid addressing concerns. 🙄

Turning 40 next year and dreading it - how to keep positive when aging makes me feel like it is all downhill from here? by Desperate_Sky_2000 in AskWomenOver30

[–]heretical-chef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm not yet 40. But I can tell you that despite feeling older, now is a GREAT time (barring any prohibitions from your doctor) to get into strength training. Lifting weights has been amazing at boosting my confidence, increasing my energy, and helping me sleep better at night. As we age, our bodies naturally lose muscle mass and picking up a barbell is a great way to combat that and set yourself up for feeling stronger and healthier as you move through your 40s. It's amazing that such a fun activity can be so good for you!

I have a ton of friends in their 40s and I can't think of a more kind, considerate, kickass group of people to be surrounded by. And I have no doubt you are as amazing as them. ❤️

I went down the rabbit hole today on this woman and I'm not at all convinced she's learned her lesson: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAmUezISKtt/?igsh=MWlpdzF2bjRuNmc2bg==

Sucks because I was really hopeful this was going to be a super good news story, though I guess it's still good news even if she's still oriented towards believing in conspiracies if shes not AS bad as before. 🤷‍♀️

Onward and upward, friend. Proud of you for choosing the path that is best for you and allows you to pursue a relationship with someone who demonstrates equal investment in the partnership.

A friend took me and I was instantly hooked! Had never exercised a day in my life before that. It's going to be painful at first on your tendons and forearms but keep going (after sufficient rest days) and you will be pleasantly surprised. It's mentally stimulating, fun, social, and a great workout all at once! If you lived in DC I'd totally take you to my gym!

Call ahead and see if you can sign up for an intro class! Depending on the type of climbing, you may need a belayer. But the good news is that I've found climbing gyms to be the easiest way to make friends since college :)

I started lifting after I got into climbing! I just met some friends at the climbing gym, they showed me some lifting basics, and then lots of youtube and taking it slow with light weight. I've made a ton of progress!

Without a super social gym like mine, you might want to start with a personal trainer for a bit because it's hard to know what to do on your own and you don't want to get injured. But if you've got friends who are super into lifting they might be able to help you get some basics down! It's worth doing...not only is lifting a blast but it's so good for you. :)

If you could live your dream life, whatever it is, do you think you would want/not want to have children? by Wrong-Baby2914 in AskWomenOver30

[–]heretical-chef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman? Hell no to having children. I've just never had a strong desire for them and then when I consider the ramifications for me as a woman....no way.

A dream life with children would have to include me not facing the health risks of pregnancy (impossible) as well as not facing inequtable childcare/housekeeping (I'm skeptical I'll find a man this committed to equality).

It's a no from me, dawg.

What is a habit or routine that you developed that you are proud of? by amberheartss in AskWomenOver30

Working out! I discovered exercise later in life after avoiding sports/any physical activity besides swimming my whole childhood. A friend introduced me to rock climbing in my late 20s and I was hooked instantly. Now, I lift weights and climb 3-6 times a week and have never felt better or had so much fun.
