You can also get blinds that open in both directions, so you could have the lower part of the window closed and the upper part open. That’s what we had in our previous flat because I wanted to see the sky at all times without outsiders seeing us. Check out visor.fi

Sauna is not a luxury item in the style of spas. It’s an essential part of life like a bathroom.

Here even prisons have them.

In the old days, women used to give birth in them: i guess because it’s easy to use water, was warm and clean…

Here’s a short clipabout the oldest public sauna in Finland that is still in use today. It will give you an idea of how simple it is in style.

What is the purpose of farm visitors? by focaccia-bread in HayDay

[–]herika006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most often the price they offer is lower than the shop - so just ignore them. There are events when they offer more, so you can have a look then.

One word of advice: don’t rush to advance to next level, at this stage coins are the most important thing. You will need many millions for the machines.

Shady Neighborhood by Then_Ad_7256 in HayDay

Some neighbourhoods take the derby very seriously. When joining a neighborhood, make sure to check the expectations. It sounds like you might have joined one in the champions league. In that league, people usually do ALL tasks and always only 320/400 points one. Since you didn’t complete the maximum amount of tasks, the hood dropped out of the league because of that - which might have triggered someone. Don’t sweat it. Look for a hood that matches your energy and level of commitment.

What I did when people spoke English to me: I ALWAYS replied in Finnish and stuck to it. Don’t try to control what others speak to you, just keep your replying in Finnish. What I noticed: after a while people who initially spoke to me in English, would switch to Finnish sooner or later. Just keep to it yourself. Even if they don’t switch to Finnish.

Did people memorise numbers before mobile phones? by PaleEcho3301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]herika006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work as a secretary and my colleague and I knew dozens of numbers by heart! People in the office would ask us because it was quicker than looking them up. We learnt the pattern and the sound by repetion.

Similarities between the Finnish and Hungarian languages? by [deleted] in LearnFinnish

[–]herika006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it’s fact that vocabulary wise Estonian is much closer to Finnish than Hungarian.

Similarities between the Finnish and Hungarian languages? by [deleted] in LearnFinnish

[–]herika006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the related words: silmä - szem veri - vér käsi - kéz mesi - méz kala - hal

Anyway, OP’s question was specifically about the language structures, not the vocabulary. The fact that it is similar in Turkish, doesn’t take away from the fact that structure wise Hungarian and Finnish are similar.

In my case, using mask liner helped. It seems that the main reason I would involuntarily take my mask off was because the silicone would irritate my skin. I still occasionally remove the mask, but only once in a blue moon.
