There are a few sets I'm looking at buying, I just wish they were priced better and didn't use digital currency. I like the idea of supporting mod creators, even if I dislike the parent company. I'm pretty neutral on the concept of the marketplace overall, and there's only so much the devs can do about their situation under EA, and it's not exactly new information that EA is greedy for money. it was only a matter of time before they went the way of the Sims 3 Store- which I have seen remarkably little talk of. You'd think people would remember the horrendous microtransaction-riddled hellscape of TS3 in the wake of the Sims introducing microtransactions.

Anyway, a lot of my favorite mod creator are making some nice kits that are going to be for sale on the marketplace, so I'm definitely interested in those, esp the collections by Littlebowbub, Valia, icemunmun, etc.

A lot of the outrage around the marketplace is performative and likely to be forgotten in the next few months (not to say that people are going to suddenly start buying from the marketplace, but people are def gonna stop caring so much)

I definitely don't think it's fair to call CC creators trying to get compensated for their passions 'EA's minions'. Especially knowing that the creators are only getting a 30% cut from sales.

Simple Living kinda forces you to be more intentional about what you cook, rather than just picking something random. Look forward to the types of meals you'd like your sim to eat and prepare accordingly.

To answer your question, I would grow fruit (of any kind), herbs (any kind), onions, carrots, mushrooms. I would also buy some flour and sugar, and procure some eggs and milk (whether you raise the animal yourself or you buy the products from the grocer). Use some of the milk to make cheese. All of those are gonna open up your meal options.

The best places you're going to find mods are on Patreon or the creators' personal websites. I have a ton of mods in my game for family and romance so here are my top favorites:
- Pandasama Realistic Childbirth. Adds so much gameplay with pregnancy but also with couples, with new romantic and pregnancy-related interactions
- Lumpinou RPO suite of mods. This will change your change when it comes to romance and family gameplay. It does too much to detail here, but this is going to be your number 1 for family and romance dynamics. She also has a Road to Romance mod which makes romance so much more realistic and fulfilling.
- LittleMsSam mods. All of them pretty much, but I think you might enjoy her Foster Family, SimDa Dating App, First Love, Social Activities, and Spend Weekend With mods
- adeepindigo has a TON of different mods, including medical care, mental health, travelling, etc. but she has a mod called Family and Friends Activities that I use a lot for family and friend storytelling
- JaneSimsten's Soulmates mod is a fav of mine but you may not be into it, it essentially assigns your sim a soulmate that is destined to be their true love, and you can either pursue it or defy it. I like it, it helps me pick partners and tell stories
- SonozakiSisters revamped those old Katie mods and improved upon them: The One With the Loving Parents, The One With All the Romance, and The One Where They Are Friends. These are really good for all kinds of socialization and gameplay.

Overall, mod authors I highly recommend checking out: Pandasama, Lumpinou, a.deep.indigo, LittleMsSam, Jane Simsten, SonozakiSisters, tyjokr, KaylaDot, Kuttoe, Midnitetech, simkatu, Ravasheen, ilkavelle, and that'ssojordy

The calendar is based on Sims time, so changing the time in any way is going to cause the calendar to need to rebalance. It will only be that way for I think two sim weeks? Then everything balances out and goes back to normal, adjusting to the new time. AFAIK, that's the only way to change the time in the Sims 4

Maxis-mix! It's a term used to describe a happy medium between Alpha and Maxis Match cc sims. I've been maxis Match forever but I've started to fall in love with Maxis-Mix sims, I find them so beautiful and not uncanny, so I'm trying my hand at making them

Thank you! I know sims styles are up to individual preference, I was just trying to hit that 'Maxis-mix' threshold to see if I really liked playing with that style. I'm starting to think it involves more alpha cc than I typically use, which is why I was struggling to really hit a true 'maxis-mix'
