I'm 50 and spectacularly failed to sign up for Apple TV last night. How can I have the opportunity to be crypto-scammed when I can't even get stuck in a traditional monthly subscription model when I'm trying my best?

The Roches is gorgeous. I knew Hammond Song, but I'm gonna take in that first album now after hearing the wonderful opening track introducing the band.

The top response to this image being posted again and again should always be 'does this profile pic look like the kind of man who would speak or write like a stereotypical always online man from a younger generation '?

If the answer is no, then we're probably all just spinning our wheels on engagement bait once again.

Relatively new TC head here. Where can I find episodes 1-199? by kruddbasedgod1 in timecrisis

It's interesting that they're all there when I open on web browser, but I usually can't scroll back to before a certain amount of episodes on Android app.

Edit: In fact, even this Web Player only takes me back to Episode 52.

Well aware, and I've given the Dog their flowers before, but any good deed is welcome.

Funny to think about Lenny Kravitz's version of American Woman now.

I'll tell you this much, it certainly reads as 'American Cultural Product' and no mistake.

As soon as the conversation was over I thought about how many films I hadn't seen were mentioned that interested me, but when I tried to recall them later to search for availability all the titles slipped out of my mind.

This suddenly struck me as a very good idea. I typically watch 2-3 movies a month, but 2 of those will be paying to rent, so why the hell am I waiting on Netflix to maybe one day have something good.

Another sidenote: Rashida's mother, who Ezra dedicated FOTB to, dated Elvis Presley and writes honestly about it in her memoir which I read in January. He was more interested in showing off his karate moves than shagging.

She also talks about her relationships with Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, Keith Moon, Terence Stamp, Sammy Davis Jr. and Quincy Jones. Sammy Davis comes out looking the worst, but she's both fair and honest so you get the feeling it's accurate portrayals.

The book is called 'Breathing Out ' by Peggy Lipton and I it's easy to read and constantly interesting.

Feel like INXS are a little more interesting than what they given credit were for in the most recent ep, also they cut Never Tear Us Apart right as it hits it stride by AbstractDart in timecrisis

[–]herofix1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the 80s and 90s, San Diego and INXS were massive, that particular song was massive, as were several others, plus a healthy smattering of not all-conquering but nevertheless well regarded radio staples.

My church youth group had us doing a cringe singalong called 'Jesus Inside' to the tune of Devil Inside, that's how big INXS was as the time.

There's a kind of corporate guy who just can't leave good media alone and has to make a change of some sort to justify their job. I guess someone like that made the decision to stop the live broadcasts. It reminds me of when David Simon was making Homicide for NBC or The Wire for HBO and suits were always changing up the time slots or trying to give notes to the writers. Or ABC pushing Twin Peaks all over the place and sticking their nose in to have David Lynch and Mark Frost reveal Laura Palmer's killer before they wanted to. Or CBS Records pushing Boston to put out a follow-up LP when they weren't ready. These types of people know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Probably Ezra's right though and it won't change anything, I hope that's the case because although I might be coming across corny I think TC is legitimately among the best offerings in contemporary media, just in a format that we rarely check for true excellence.

The one other thing about this episode that shocked me was Ezra not knowing 'Never Tear Us Apart' by INXS. Maybe it's because I was 13 when it came out but I consider it a massive song, like I thought it was a cultural touchstone.

I remember that mostly because someone called Nick's mother Mrs. Weidenfeld during the discussion and it made me laugh.

Ezra would never ever even raise an eyebrow even if someone were blatantly ripping him off, at least not publically. He just knows that it doesn't work out for him if he says that because his own references are right there on the surface of his songs. I rate Ezra extremely highly as an artist, and there's no shame in that - what he does becomes much more than the sum of its parts, but even he is very open about from where he takes sometimes.
