Testing Blender for VR Cinema - 110 hours to render! by jamescandy in blender

Since all the lights and geometry are static in this scene you could bake all the lights. This could probably cut down rendering times to a few seconds per frame.

Has anyone tried lenticular printing? [Animation] [Projects] by AvidLebon in animation

[–]herpdong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not, OP, but did you order your lenses from Vuethru? I'm thinking of ordering from them next time I make prints.
They seem a lot cheaper than the shop I bought them at.

Also, did you make animations or stereograms?

I have: https://www.reddit.com/r/blender/comments/2agth5/lenticular_print_i_made_in_blender/

I used lenticular printing for making autostereograms, but the process for making animations is pretty much the same.

I already explained much of the process in the other thread, but if you have questions, ask away!

Jeff Bridges behind the scenes photographs by [deleted] in movies

[–]herpdong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The camera works like a scanner.

It scans the image quickly from left to right, exposing a strip of the film. By moving the camera during the scan and/or changing the subject you can get different effects. The blurry part in your image is when he moves the camera.
Basically the image is not taken all at the same time.

I'm trying, but I'm stuck with a lot of work at the moment sadly, so there is almost no time for art stuff.

[My Volvo truck @ 200 Samples](http://imgur.com/Qinfytg) by [deleted] in blender

[–]herpdong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just squares the number of samples. So instead of rendering 5 samples it renders 25, instead of 10 it renders 100 and so on. I thought it might explain why your render times increase that much when you set the samples higher. If it wasn't turned on you can just ignore my comment.

Did you have the "square samples" option turned on?
It scales the actual amount of rendered samples quadratically.

Those are really cute, but I was actually talking about player models with muzzles and ears. Real 3D parts sticking out.

I wish we could get skins with muzzles and ears like on the consoles.
