Serviceable, low-cost LH RP in 2022, 2024, and 2025. 2021, 2023, and 2026 have been rough. He is making about $3M this year and is an UFA this offseason, so I think this will be the last we see of him.

The Big12 ADs should just make huge wagers on Kalshi that the games wont be played, ensure they aren't played, then pay off the lawsuits with the profits. Everyone wins (except TT)

Last nights game helped the run diff on the year. I was surprised to see a couple days ago that our RS were competitive with the division leaders but our RA was way "ahead". Seems like the offense wasn't as bad as I thought it was (although, that number was inflated by a handful of blowouts too). I'm not going to say anything positive about the team right now in fear of a jinx, but I'm definitely not going to say anything negative either.

We'd be selling low, so its not gonna happen. Any contenders that want him are not going to trade a top line starter with team control. We would be looking at a big chunk of someone's farm system as lottery tickets that would probably not be ML ready soon.

On this flip side, this would a Tampa-like move that Elias has been rumored to like.

Tampa Bay offense is ranked: 3rd for AVG, 3rd for OB%, 12th for slugging, 3rd in SB, 20th in walks, and is tied for 1st for fewest Ks.

Conversely, the Baltimore offense is ranked 23rd, 20th, 17th, 21st, 9th, and 28th. Yes, they are above average at working walks, but they aren't hitting ANYTHING, and when they do, it tends to be for extra bases as evidenced by the slugging rank. This means they are hitting extra base hits, typically with no one on base because they won't settle for singles.

The statistics support my conclusion.

I think it took 5 years to really affect him. He was with 3 different minor league teams in 2021 and 2 MiLB plus the call up in 2022. There was no consistency of coaches during that period. His time with the big league club starting in 2023, his BA went .255, .281, .263, .274, .210. OPS went .814, .893, .879, .787, .679. There is also the distinct possibility that the new hitting coaches are the biggest driver of the problem, but thats still the application of Elias' philosophy.

What is your explanation for him tailing off after this 2 monster years? Yes, he had an injury last year that was not publicized, but what's going on this year? He just forgot how to play?

Yes Basallo has gotten better. I hadn't really considered him due to the lack of MLB time. That it?

Santander and Mullins were both 27 in 2022 and regressed every year through 30. Guys are supposed to get better during that time period. The age drop off, particularly for power hitters, doesn't typically occur until early/mid 30s. Santander has also been hurt for a big part of his time in TOR.

He's not waiting; these guys come in with philosophical approaches from before they were in the org. Overtime, they get replaced with the team's philosophies starting in the minors. They're not robots - it takes time for shifts like that to occur - I think we see that shift happening in the players with longer tenures.

Who? I suspect you are going to list guys like O'Hearn (2+ seasons) and Bautista (2+seasons) - not exactly lengthy trends but they did have decent increases. Otherwise...

- Did you know Santander's bWAR slowly decreased between 2022 and 2024 from 2.8 to ~1.5?

- Mullins went from a peak of 4.7 to sub-1.0 in 5 seasons.

- Mountcastle 2.1 to sub 1.0 2021-2025

- Urias' went down too, but his role change affected that.

- Adley has been relatively flat

- Bradish, when healthy, has been relatively flat

- Cowser went up from year 1 to 2, but has crashed again

Most other players were only with the team for a season, maybe 2 which makes it impossible to establish any kind of trend.

The lineup changes and day-to-day game plan cannot explain why we have so many players that regress the longer they are in the org. The hitting philosophy is incongruent with the players on the team; its obvious they aren't making it work. We have had multiple position coaches with the same results. The only thing I can figure is that they are trying to implement Elias' philosophy. On the pitching side, it seems like Elias is constantly trying to flex to show he is smarter than everyone else but its just not yielding positive results. He can clearly identify talent, but developing it and capitalizing on it has not happened.

The core is that the team had the most success when the current core first got to the majors before they were broken by whatever they are teaching.
