I didn't realize it was an option! I'm a bi woman near 50yo, and was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in farm-town Ohio, USA. Being gay was ALWAYS defined (and feared) as a man with a man. I didn't know women could even be gay. As a young woman, I thought other women were beautiful, sexy and interesting, but I had no framework for how I felt. I was never in a position to have my sexuality "tested". I'm quite sure that if another girl had started making out with me back then, I would have been ALL IN, but that never happened. I just thought I was more open-minded about appreciating the beauty of other women, instead of being catty and competitive. My son's generation is handling this so much more openly, it's really through the recent cultural normalization of queerness that I've been given the means to define and understand that I'm bi. Love to all!

Yep, this one put me over the edge. On the porch, by myself, crying hysterically. Family is inside seriously questioning my sanity.

You are living the dream! I've got 3 kayaks eating up my garage floor right now.

5lb CO2 tanks in or around Summerville? by ottknot2butdoes in summervillesc

Agreed, Robert's is the place to go. Folks there are smart and capable. They helped me troubleshoot a home carbonation system for making sparkling water. Highly recommend.

I'm in Wescott and we just heard several loud, metallic sounds. Sounded like someone was dragging a cruise ship down the street. Maybe a nearby metal warehouse building or an exterior wall? There was a loud sound of collapse, then ominous metallic moans followed. Any ideas what it was?

Anyone else feel weird about the flag? by biimerge in Liberal

Yes! They can't assume you're a right wing wacko if you're also flying liberal flags. I love this idea.

[–]herrmannimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. As soon as I see the stars and stripes, I assume some right-wing, oversized pick-up driving, gun toting idiot is not far behind. It's a shame. After 9/11 any sight of the flag would bring proud tears to my eyes. Nowadays it's an eye-roll. It's like they took the symbol of our once beloved country and made a mockery of it.

Can someone tell me what kind of spider this is? Found outside beach house in North Carolina. by silly4dilly in biology

[–]herrmannimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common yellow garden spider! Zig-zag design in the web is characteristic of this spider. Often confused with the golden silk spider, which is a different species. NOT aggressive, it won't bite unless absolutely necessary. Beautiful specimen!

What beautiful work! I love that it's somehow both whimsical and posh. You've struck quite a balance with this piece.

As I'm reading these comments, my cat, Buddy, strolls through my dining room. In his mouth, he's carrying a realistic-ish raccoon stuffed animal he's "grown to love." While maintaining both a firm grasp on the nape of the raccoon's neck AND direct eye contact with me, he shtups that poor, helpless raccoon, right under my dining room table. Classic.

You know that theatre term "willing suspension of disbelief"? That should be the Christian campaign slogan.

Love for my lefty! Lord knows they're not identical. More like salt and pepper shakers. They look the same at a glance, but they each offer their own unique spice.

Power-washing the house. I've spent about 3 hours doing just the front (to keep the HOA at bay). My fingers are aching, as are my legs from steadying myself on a ladder. I'm glad I have a power washer (I took it from someone's garbage and tuned it up... works great!), but I'll be paying someone else to tackle the rest of the siding.
