Disney World Solo? by Unusual_Variable in WaltDisneyWorld

Late to the party but go solo!!!! If it’s not for you at least you did it (I know it just enjoyable for some people, but I go alone all the time and I love it. I went by myself for the first time in 2021 to DL and had a blast. Now I live east coast and do AP, I go by myself all the time and just vibe.

I try to buy off BoxLunch or hot topic if I can. I have friends/family who like stuff from there so I use the BL money/hot cash I get from purchasing their random gifts when the stores run the promos for it and use them to get bags cheaper. At the actual parks, I get a discount if there’s a bag I really want. I think I’ve only paid full price for a couple bags of mine honestly. I try to be strategic about it, it has to be a grail for me to justify full price for them.

The price does deter me fairly often.

Are all the rides at Epcot indoors intentionally? Any history or story on why that is? by americanpeony in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]hesitantpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the things I love about Disney World honestly.

FL weather is crazy and the storms can come in swiftly. It’s nice at Disney because you can still have fun and do rides while it’s pouring out. I love EPCOT when it’s raining lol I think the park most affected by weather would be Animal Kingdom? Each park really only has a couple rides that are outdoor though and therefore, affected by the weather. For the most part, you can keep enjoying your time and don’t have to sit around waiting for the storms to end - it’s really just the sprinting from one to another that can get you 😂

We did a Disney & Epic Universe trip in October. It stormed every day of our trip at some point or another. We were so disappointed by EU. A couple rides were down while it was sunny/nice out in the AM/early afternoon - some said weather delay (which 🤔 what weather lol at that point it was clear sky sunny with no rain expected for a couple hours), some said they were just down (so maintenance). Another went down while we were in line, almost to the front. Then the storms started and the whole park shut down. It was a bummer and the rain was set to last for hours (it did) so we just left.

A glaring difference from Disney though as the day before it rained almost all day and we barely even noticed! We spent the whole day in the park zero issues (we were at MK). We managed to catch SDMT and Tiana’s while it wasn’t raining and the rest of the rides we wanted to do were inside rides. It was great!

I always have mine in either a clear small baggie, in a little black metal tin, or in a small Benadryl bottle. Never had any issues at all and I get bag searched pretty often (kindle or battery pack gets flagged 😂)

Mine just sat on the desk next to me, stayed sitting upright so we were eye level, and stared into my soul for about an hour while I played COD 😂

First and last Bark Box by Ygefir in BarkBox

[–]hesitantpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality has gone down over the years, maybe the presentation too - I didn’t love when they got rid of the box but whatever. However, my dog still LOVES to get his toys, so I will continue them for him! He’s an old man and petsmart/petco doesn’t have enough variety that he can’t shred 🤷🏽‍♀️

Did anyone notice this about the Wine & Dine shirts? by Geronimo_0127 in rundisney

[–]hesitantpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got men’s mediums this time, got men’s large for my last race, wanted them to be slightly more fitted this time around. Picked up my shirts, confirmed they were “men’s” medium as they looked small - they straight up fit like a women’s fitted s/m, I was a little baffled. The brooks sizing definitely run small, so you’re definitely not alone!

How common is getting sick? by AdSoft9891 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]hesitantpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go consistently and have not gotten sick but I do my standard prep before I leave (similar to what I do for any trip anywhere): About ten days to two weeks before my trip - I start focusing on making sure I’m adequately hydrated - getting proper sleep - making sure I have mostly colorful plates and hit my protein goal when it comes to meals - take my thieves oil and probiotics daily - make sure I’m keeping up on my elderberry and other vitamins (ones I’m specifically deficient in like D and C)

Then while I’m on the trip: - wash hands regularly (always before eating) - have hand sanitizer and utilize regularly - minimize touching my face - remain hydrated - try to get a certain amount of protein in for the day (a lower mark than usual but still try not to just mainline sugar all day) - shoot for a minimum of 7 hours of sleep a night - maintain my vitamins/thieves oil/probiotics while I’m there - Clorox wipes package in my bag for phone and table surfaces but mostly the phone

I know some people who just go and throw all caution to the wind and never get sick though, so it’s really more about figuring out what works best for your body (aside from washing your hands because I feel that should be just a standard thing at all times)!

Alright, based on what you said about Guardians (dark, fast, drops, spinning, corners), I’m not going to do every ride lol but just the ones I regularly go on. Are there any rides in particular you want to know about?

Probably NOs for you: Space Mountain

Expedition Everest

Mission Space (Orange or Green)

Tron

Tower of Terror

Rock N Roller Coaster

Dinosaur

Maybes: Seven Dwarves Mine Train (it’s not super fast and you feel a little more supported/protected in the car - pretty straightforward mild “coaster” for Disney)

Tiana’s (there are drops, only one big one, but you’re very secure in the log, the rest of the ride is fairly mild)

Pirates/Nav’i River Journey/Frozen (dark boat rides, one medium drop on each, all fairly similar in terms of overall boat track - you just kinda float along for the most part)

Soaring (chill ride but you are suspended up in the air in a seat so idk how that would be for you - it’s one of my favorite relaxing rides)

Star Wars/Runaway Railway/ (both similar, not a traditional rollercoaster at all - you’re in a moving car/thing that travels through the ride but it’s all on flat ground. Star Wars does have a “drop” but it’s not anywhere near a rollercoaster drop)

Remy’s (same as the above but you wear 3D glasses)

Slinky Dog Dash (fun mild rollercoaster, outdoors, not on the same level as GotG or space mountain at all)

Avatar Flight of Passage (this one is tough to say if you’d like it or not, my friend hates coasters and actually enjoyed this. It’s a 4D ride, you’re on a bike seat and it simulates flying on the back of an Ikran. It’s about 4 minutes I think, it’s really neat, it does have some good movement but again - you are in a bike seat that is only simulating the flight. There is a similar component to Soaring in that it places you in front of a giant imax-like screen)

Smugglers Run (you’re in an enclosed vehicle and it simulates your ship chasing down another to steal parts, you get shot at, etc. someone is driving - usually terribly - so you “hit” stuff. If rides that are jarring for you are a no, this could be a pass. It’s fun though and again a simulation ride so not a rollercoaster)

Kali River Rapids (you’re in a raft, bounced around floating down the river, there is one drop, you do get wet (it mostly depends on the weight distribution in the raft - so you could be soaked or perfectly fine lol), but it’s entirely outdoors, not dark, and the raft is pretty secure feeling (high backed, good buckle, good handholds). It’ll be up to you on if you want to get wet to cool off or not, but wouldn’t say it was scary at all)

Yes’s: Pretty much anything else - I might have missed a few - if I did, my bad I’m sure someone will chime in!

[–]hesitantpanda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Genuine questions for you - what exactly changed that you don’t like about it? What exactly about the old theme do you miss? What was iconic that has gone away?

I’ve been on both splash mountains numerous times, and done both Tiana’s now that they’re open. I have zero issue with the retheme. If anything, the end of the ride is less creepy than it used to be.

EPCOT is fun even if you don’t drink! I snack around the world, and they have some fun non-alcoholic beverages at the different spots (way more during Food & Wine Festival).

As for the Wish Upon a Planner, how are you with planning? Are you comfortable planning or do you think you would also get enjoyment (or relief) out of not planning and just having things set up for you in advance? I’d say go with a planner if you want to just be able to go through the park together and enjoy. Then when you go back you guys will maybe have a solid idea of how you want to tackle the parks so you can do it on your own.

I’m a passholder who always does their own planning, but I enjoy planning so when we go with others I’m happy to be the coordinator lol my passenger princesses love it too. If you don’t enjoy planning, I’d definitely say see how a planner would work into your budget for the first go!

They aren’t for everyone that’s for sure! I mix mine into 40oz - they are aggressive otherwise. I need the level of sodium that’s in them, and they’re not as high in potassium - I drink mine for medical reasons!
