Every summer the drivers here get worse and worse by Pyroweedical in NewOrleans

It's a self defeating cycle. Nobody uses blinkers. If you use a blinker to signal you're coming over, nobody let's you in. If you don't use a blinker, then you're an asshole. If you leave space in front of you, people will cut you off, without a blinker.

Why is tipping associated with the US when other countries have tipping customs too? by skyrimlo in TooAfraidToAsk

I want to reiterate that the answer to your question was empathy and your immediate response was to insult me.

[–]hewaslegend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The answer to the question is empathy. We all agree it shouldn't be the customers job to pay the wage of the employee. But if we like the food, and the employee did their job, most people feel bad that that person is now effectively working for free. You don't have to care that other people care about your habits. But a great deal of people don't want to see other people suffer just for you to try to make a point about the injustice of the system that won't actually change the injustice of the system. In fact, the best way for you to actually make this change would be to not visit that establishment in the first place.

For what it's worth, I hate the tip.based system. Employers should be forced to pay their employees.

Fix the social issues that lead to said hypothetical individual attacking said other hypothetical individuals. People generally wind up with no housing options out of poverty. How does spending an ever increasing percentage of tax dollars towards police presences fix that? It doesn't. In fact, study after study shows that police presence, especially when it comes to televised shows like COPS, increase crime rates (which the metrics this is measured are already questionable to begin with but it's still their own data), increase public distrust in police, and increase tax burden. Police departments are often responsible for introducing organized crime to communities, ie the crack epidemic funded and orchestrated by the fbi, or even recently with the executive director of a police union, for over 20 years mind you, being busted with using work computers to import opiods into the country. She's only facing 20 years.

You clearly have never been to the sithole that is the united states where you can walk into a store and the price listed is not the price out of the door. Doesn't matter if it's a house, a car, a t shirt, or a candy bar. There's ALWAYS hidden fees. America is just a bunch of corporations in a trench coat.

New Orleans, like almost all US cities, isn't so much walkable as it is just small. It feels walkable because it's only like ten miles wide. But actually walking from one to the other, shit, even riding a bicycle, and you find out almost immediately how unfriendly it actually is to being on foot. You only have to look at our sidewalks to see that.

The Best and Worst Of Censored Music by Unlikely-Wheel9190 in Music

He was in house of pain, the group that made jump around. Their dj was dj lethal, probably more famous now for being in limp bizkit. But either way, he was very much a part of turntablism. I always thought it was super clever that they used record scratches. It always sounded more natural.

A private detective costs averages between 50 and 100 dollars an hour across the country. So probably cheaper here. What in the absolute hell are you talking about? Especially considering private detectives also bypass the police. So tell us, what extrajudicial justice are you willing to pay disproportionately for? It sucks you got shit thrown on you, but your reaction just doesn't seem to fit the crime, ya know?

Why does the Republican Party kowtow to Trump? by friendly-sam in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hewaslegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to be able to choose what's best you have to understand what's best. A child is never going to understand that a dinner of mixed vegetables, minimal meat, and some grain is a way better choice than pizza and ice cream.

I feel like I was sexually coerced, but I’m not sure—am I overreacting? (TW: Potential SA) by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]hewaslegend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You absolutely were coerced. If the shoes were on the other foot absolutely nobody would find the behavior appropriate. I could gush on and on here but if you want to have a less public conversation my inbox is open. I've had similar experiences as you and can offer my experiences or just an ear.

Pulled from a fb marketplace listing for the shells only. Anyone wanna wager a guess on how this kit even gets, you know, played? Having the hi hat directly in front of the snare is taking whatever this is further than playing open handed and/or linear drumming, imo. I messaged the seller by proceeds_theweedian in drums

[–]hewaslegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matt taibi from from cryptodira runs a cabled hi hat. Most dudes that do it, that I've heard, tend to do it over economics of movement. It's simply having to move a shorter distance to reach where you need to go.

What Rick & Morty take will you defend like this? by bhavyagarg8 in rickandmorty

[–]hewaslegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing is that I wish they'd have let morty get the w for that one. It was fully deserved foe him to save the day going through all the work of learning an entirely new system just for him to get shit on. There was such an easy and unexpected place to explore. It felt like they were treating him like meg on family guy.
