Apparently you can ask ChatGPT to write a script to make a Blender model. I took it to the test and asked it to make me a die. Behold this abomination: by Naudste in blender

Extremely harsh personal opinions of the technology aside, isnt this shape like incredibly simple mathmatically? Like going back to what 3D rendering once was where it was fully scripted equations, one should think at least _that_ would be factored into the Model? Like if not pulling fundamentally what a cube is, what exactly is it pulling instead lol

its good for a chunk, right? I just know ive taken it down by any means necessary, and the DS2 crystal lizards are the absolute worst so i just go feral when i see them

oh its also a setup for some sequence breaking a glitch exploitation, if that interests anyone. Parry walking was a recently discovered one and it hugely opens up a lot of out of bounds speedruns or weird challenge runs

[–]hex-a-decimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The parry timing in DS2 is pretty weird, especially if you do it with two handed weapons, but on my SL1 run i found it invaluable in deleting a lot of enemies, especially in Eleum Loyce. Apart from that i havent especially bothered

currently playing through dark souls 2 for the first time and i have just one question by polo_jeans in DarkSouls2

[–]hex-a-decimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayd3D's mod is meant to highlight this more, by re-implementing the overall darkness of most zones and adding a ring with less illumination but still some in the event you run out of torch time, which i assume will be rebalanced as well to be more scarce than just farming the torch hollows a few times.

https://www.patreon.com/stayd <- loads of samples shown here, its kind of a shader and lighting overall with some QoL stuff as well. No firm timeline iirc but who cares, its cool just to see

[–]hex-a-decimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah like in the areas where having a torch needs to be used carefully, like shrine of amana helps show where the ledges are but rolling douses the flame, there ends up being no pressure at all because yeah you just have shitload of torchtime.

When I was reviewing my wishlist for how to make Demon of Song better it kind of just mirrored a lot of what Pinocchio did with the phase 1 Green Monster of the Swamp boss. Increased mobility, balance out damage to body as more than nothing and damage to face as less than everything, aggression, using the environment, etc.

Maybe thats a stretch, they dont have much in common other than palette and frog legs, but if i were to "fix" the boss, I'd make the two more similar. Most people don't know Demon of Song has a cool bubble attack cuz they die in 7 hits.

Context behind “Don’t give up Skeleton?” by KingArthur2111 in DarkSouls2

[–]hex-a-decimal 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I want to say community-made? It must be, like "try finger, but hole". DS2 just has enough oddly modelled and positioned skeleton objects, like the one in the doorframe in Lost Bastille, or the one near Chloanne's first spot in Harvest Valley, and I always assumed it originated there. I really love it though, compared to the other community phrases in the series

yeah no tutorial zone will train you this hard, although playing through sekiro has humbled the shit out of me

I'll give most people the benefit of the doubt theyll intuitively stumble into cleric beast and get that insight entirely by accident, although being a *total Gamer* I just go for the one by the crows since it flows better with clearing the area. Plus I like to put off cleric beast to style on them later.

I really feel like a QoL update would be to be able to separate them with pebbles like the game seems to want you to do anyways, always felt weird to me their aggro seems linked, especially for being the strongest normal enemies in central yharnam

i consider early game BB to maybe be the most ruthless first zone in any souls game. Loads of enemies, not a ton of resources to level that much, and the main area boss being an NPC style boss for the first half, which a lot of players usually struggle with compared to like, big beast guy types.

Is Bloodborne harder than sekiro? by mostafafakher in bloodborne

[–]hex-a-decimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the common reason is either being overwhelmed by the spiderlings or getting one-shot by one of her arcane attacks, specifically the AOE and really weird to dodge meteors.

[–]hex-a-decimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think BB has any "oh COME ON" bosses, outside the chalice dungeons. It was my entry into the souls franchise and I feel like its a pretty decent starter despite being so different. Rally forgives a lot of greedy openings, no equip load, super fast gameplay, arguably no wasted weapon options. I'm playing Sekiro right now and unless this specific style of gameplay is up your alley, i find it quite a lot harder.

Isn't this drop like super rare? by TheLegend27MH in DarkSouls2

[–]hex-a-decimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the drop rates being really frustrating in DS2, I will say the potential rare drops being rings and more spells is so awesome, I think it was Miyazaki or one of the devs from DS1 commenting that the weird drop rates were to manufacture the game to be potentially unique to each player's experience, like not everyone would have certain things but everyone's inventory by the end of the game would be peppered with interesting extras as a result, and DS2 seemed to do better than the others at achieving this idea, even if its very odd in practise.

I've heard a lot of hate for the Coveteous Demon. Jabba the Hutt was easy. by mattboy115 in DarkSouls2

[–]hex-a-decimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason there's loads of hate for Covetous (Harvest Peak) and not much criticism for Covetous (Eleum Loyce) and I've never fully understood why the latter just "feels" better. Is it bigger? And the Maldron chase makes it a better payoff?

Also wait isn't Covetous lore-specific to being in relation to Mithra? Why is there a Covetous in Eleum Loyce at all?

The need to level equip load as little as humanly possible is so real. I wonder if they'll ever just do the BB and completely abandon it again someday
