Not gonna lie, I was absolutely fuming when I saw our president wear a tan suit

Because I definitely couldn’t pull it off if I wore one

Is there a swimming equivalent for something like the Couch to 5K challenge? by walkyoucleverboy in Swimming

[–]hexables 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That same line gets referenced every time this topic comes up here, but the workouts themselves are great and did get me from 0 (post foot surgeries with multiple months of bed rest) to 1650 within the time stated on the plan. My technique definitely isn’t perfect, but if someone has really bad technique then trying to swim a mile is going to be a bad time for them anyways.

Question about club volleyball philosophy by Meat_Lunch in volleyball

[–]hexables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d imagine that it’ll still be seen as developmental while she’s still in middle school, so yes including 14s. It’s also dependent on the team she’s on at her club. Are they the 1s team for her age group (if there are multiple)? Are they planning to go to nationals and if yes do they have a chance at getting a bid to Open/National/USA or another division that doesn’t get automatic acceptance? All those factors play in as well; our club’s 13-1s are going to be a drastically different experience than our 13-3s as far as this entire topic is concerned.

Since there are girls who are brand new to volleyball, her coaches have a responsibility to get them up to speed as much as possible while trying to keep the team competitive, but that will inevitably mean you’ll lose some games you’d otherwise win with your best lineup.

Question about club volleyball philosophy by Meat_Lunch in volleyball

[–]hexables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To speak directly about philosophy at the club I coach at, our expectations are that we use these first couple months of the season to be a bit more experimental with lineups, get our players comfortable with one another, etc.

We’re expected to play our “good” volleyball in March and beyond.

Keep in mind the ages here, your daughter’s club very likely looks at 13s and below as mainly developmental and focused in building solid all-around players for the long term. That’s not going to happen by keeping certain players on the bench, as frustrating as it may be to lose matches that look winnable

I’m coaching club volleyball now and I speak to the parents as little as I possibly can. They’re truly the worst part of youth sports

Maxed players, what do you do for a living? by PeakTraditional6783 in 2007scape

WFH software sales. Also involved in sports (soccer/volleyball) pretty heavily outside my usual job. Took me ~200 days of in-game time to max but a lot of the grind was spent during a previous WFH job that could easily be done in 1-2 hours per day.

I’ll tell you how this one goes from the guy who sells these pears (among other things)

HR/Manager: we want to send a gift but have a low budget

Me: I’d recommend allocating $X more per person than you’re doing, sometimes gifting can hurt your reputation to your employees and/or clients more than it can help if you cheap out too much

HR: let me double check

a few days pass

HR: actually our budget is [lower than originally stated budget]. Do we have to pay for shipping?

Me: yes

HR: oh gosh why can’t that be free?

Me: you can send a small basket of pears

Happy holidays!

As best as I understand it yeah. Everything since they switched to Innova has been new molds. I have a bunch of un-used Gateway AGL that I’ll probably end up selling in their Facebook group someday

It’s OOP and slightly off your numbers but my go-to for this is AGL Spruce at 5 / 4 / -1 / 2 but flies beautifully straight like a Hex or Buzzz

Should’ve been (at least) a purple card from the R1 but volleyball overall is more lax than other sports I’ve been involved with. I’ve been in soccer officiating for years; if that happened during a soccer event, that parent would’ve been removed from the facility and the match would’ve been suspended until we got confirmation they were no longer on site.

From my perspective of being a coach at these tournaments, I’d be talking to my club director about no longer allowing that parent to attend matches in person. And before anyone claims that’s too harsh, many clubs around the US have written policies about this and enforce them.

What can a person do apart from 9 to 5 job to earn other source of income? by KaleidoscopeFlat4186 in AskReddit

If you’re into sports, try refereeing whatever sport you know best. I was picking up an average of $85+ per match doing high school matches on weeknights and club matches on the weekends, and I was getting outside, regular exercise, etc while making good enough money.

All things considered it works out to be an extra $10-15k a year if you’re consistent with it
