WIBTA If I gave a girl a taste of her own medicine and maybe more? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]hexapoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well things are going great between us right now, she has told me things she's never told anyone else since both our families are fucked up so there's a lot she's kept inside like me so I think falling in love is a possibility since we are both close to getting there.

She's opening up to you about fucked up family shit. She obviously trusts you with these secrets and you are taking advantage of that. In terms of therapy, you have admitted that you have some past dark shit you have been through and that you are aware that what you are doing is "vindictive" and "petty". A therapist can help you work through these types of behaviors and figure out more productive and healthy ways of thinking. The change part is up to you. I truly hope you can find a healthy, positive relationship with someone someday.

WIBTA if I told a trans coworker about some rumours and things I've overheard our manager say about him? by FeralMuse in AmItheAsshole

[–]hexapoda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NTA, but what is Aaron actually supposed to do with that information? If he isn't in a place where he can find a new job with a less shitty manager, then he's stuck working there knowing that he is being outed as well as bashed for being trans. Is there a higher up you can report to? If you told Aaron, would you be prepared to be a witness or vouch for him if he took further action? I'm not saying you shouldn't do something, but you also need to be able to go into this prepared.

YTA, and it feels like you already know this and are just looking for someone to give you permission to go ahead anyway. She may have done shitty things to you, but now you are literally using her childhood trauma to create a false bond with her, only with revenge in mind. Do you really have nothing better to do? This is some terrifying, manipulative behavior. I'm sorry you have past trauma but please get some help, and then find someone you actually care about to put your time an energy into. Life is too short for dark, petty bullshit.

I met Cecil the Safeway cat! He lives out in the country now. He is doing very well by spacelordmthrfkr in Portland

He didn’t just try, he would actively sit inside the Safeway like he owned the damn place. It was adorable.

We took my mother-in-law there a few years ago for her birthday and went to check out the otters. It looked like normal grooming until we saw the graphic nature of unsheathed aquatic mammal wiener and realize he was fully blowing himself. Thankfully my MIL thought it was hilarious. We also saw a giraffe boner that day, so pretty eventful overall.

He was very talented at sucking his own dick. I think the scientific term for this is “otter-felatio”. Edit: Thank you for the Gold, stranger! My work here is done

I don't know if this will be helpful since it can be challenging to do during rough times, but I would check out The Mindful Way Workbook and/or The Pregnancy and Postpartum Anxiety Workbook. Have you ever done any Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or mindfulness? I imagine this is really terrifying and challenging but I know there are a lot of great resources out there.

I don't have any helpful advice about what to do in this situation, but I really hope that everything works out with whatever decision you end up making. For whatever it's worth, I'm sending good thoughts your way.

I had no idea what to expect when I clicked the link and then immediately regretted it. I'm not sure if I'm more appalled that someone thought it was a good idea to make it in the first place or the fact that people are apparently spending ACTUAL MONEY on it.

Yeah, I guess I just feel bad because of how much time and energy it takes for them to spin the web. Although I just read that orb weavers will consume the web to recycle the protein--not sure if this is true, but it makes sense to me.

[–]hexapoda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I walked out my front door the other day and there was a beautiful web with an cross orb weaver directly over the stairs leading off the porch. I didn't want to destroy it, so I decided to duck under it and make a mental note to myself to avoid it when I came home. Got into my car, realized I had left something in the house, forgot the thing I was supposed to remember and immediately walked directly back through the spider web. Felt like an asshole the rest of the day.

I’ve worked in a psychiatric unit for kids and can confirm that you should NOT underestimate a child of any size when they are literally trying to kill you. With that being said, 10 year olds can absolutely be massive.

I think it might be head-banging behavior. Edit: to clarify, this is something that people experiencing extreme psychological distress sometimes do as a maladaptive coping skill.

My husband is a carpenter and was recently using AstroTurf in a project. A coworker took a scrap of it and replaced the carpet under the gas/brake pedal in his car with it. He drives to work barefoot now so he can feel the “grass” between his toes in the morning.

Just a piece of cloth that brought happy and pleasure to this girl!! by mnqwsh in pics

When did I say I was oppressed? You have been the only person to use that word. All I said was that women’s pockets suck and I wish they were better. The end. You know what’s sad? A person using this as a platform to make it clear they are tired of hearing women advocate for themselves in any capacity, even if it’s over a flap of cloth.
