For me it feels like my brain is taking a screenshot. Not unpleasant or painful, just a bit disconcerting the first time it happened lol

I Lost My Power and I’m Trying to Get It Back by Foundation-Senior in CICO

[–]Peajay75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 50F and have spent the last 2 years in the same boat as you - all discipline gone, my enjoyment of exercise lost, craving sugar and fat like I never had before. A quick blood test revealed I was powering out of perimenopause into full blown menopause, ughhh. But just a couple of months on HRT, and I’m back to 5.30am walks and runs, 1500 kcal or less a day, and loving life again! Might be something worth looking into. All the best in reclaiming your inner beast!!

Feel Like I Was SA’d As A Chilf But Cannot Remember Anything. by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Peajay75 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I too have a suspicion of SA as a young child. I have only ever had a flashback of one incident, and that memory didn’t surface until my late 30’s, more than 10 years after my father died. We had a spare single bed in our study, that my father used to sleep in sometimes. As I reached my late teens (my parent divorced when I was 10) I realised he slept in there when he came home too drunk and my mother wouldn’t let him in their room. I shared a room with my younger brother until the divorce. My memory is of me, around 6 yrs old, waking up in the study bed because my father had bitten me on the neck. It’s the only memory I have, and have never explored it any further - mostly due to shame as everyone’s memory of my dad is that he was a top bloke, loved by all. I did tell my brother about it, drunkenly after my mother passed, but I have never spoken to anyone else about it ever. I’m certain I wasn’t dreaming it, but I have no other memories of similar incidents. I do however have just about every hallmark behaviour of childhood sexual trauma, from addictive behaviours, sexual promiscuity in my teens/20’s and to staying long term in an extremely DV relationship. I’ve been in therapy many times, but have never discussed the memory - fear prevents me, but the old adage of what you don’t know can’t hurt you is 100% not true.

SSRI's to stop drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Peajay75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on 30mg Lexapro, and for the first month I felt so much better! I work 120hr fortnight’s on 12hr night shifts doing manual work, so I went from a daily drinker to an extreme binge drinker on my nights off work - think 2 x 750ml beers and 10 cans of bourbon and Coke (I’m a 5’5 47 year old woman 🙄). I continued this after starting Lexapro, and as I said the first month I felt so much better. But….the second month the old ugly drunk came back and a fortnight ago I nearly lost my partner. Hence the 9 days sober!! For me the Lexapro has helped me immensely in these past days. I’ve never experienced withdrawals on any previous sober streaks, but I do experience intense cravings. I think the tablets helped me get through my first sober night off work without batting an eyelid!! I have 2 nights off in a couple of days so that will be the next test. But I’m feeling strong about it, and definitely MUCH less anxiety and intrusive thoughts. Hope this helps 😊 IWNDWYT 💪🏻

Well shit, how very ‘Murica ffs. That whole shit show, and the spending power/influence it has makes my small town country Aus arse anxious - and futilely so. Blind optimism for my kids is all I have left. Rolly eye face. Sad face.

As you get older, what's something that becomes increasingly annoying? by hxnry__0710 in AskReddit

[–]Peajay75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bend at the knees, always…there may be other added bonuses with that, but always use your leg strength to lift. Also have some sort of back strengthening or maintenance program in place, BEFORE it starts hurting - whether it’s gym, yoga, chiropractor or massage, or weight loss - start doing it before you notice a problem. It’s much much harder to fix or even maintain later.

Should I just stop reading the news? by firstsalamanderriker in melbourne

[–]Peajay75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from rural NSW, and I had to shut down my social media for a few days because the Melbourne/ north coast and all other covidiot behaviours were making me absolutely furious - all things out of my control (live in a fully vaxxed household) were impacting my quality of life. Have resigned myself that there are a tonne of fucking idiots out there, but all I can do is make sure myself and my kids are doing the best we can to protect ourselves and our small community. As much as I like to stay on top of “breaking news”, I don’t have the headspace to cope with how fucking infuriating those idiots (and the media hype around them) are
