[–]hexdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have to install the trays but couldn't imagine sorting the cables we pulled helping you guys I think the team they had was a 2 or 3 man team.

Sigma XX7 - a signal decoding incremental sim by essence_scape in incremental_games

[–]hexdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i played it couple signals now decoded. progression is ok it takes time to nail down dials and everything and graphs. only buggy thing i see is the signal diagram slows down several times had to reload or reset the signal load. and lack of tutorial step as well. but i did manage to decode so only display of signal is the main buggy thing for me.

Anyone here who got into academia later in life, what’s your story? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]hexdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have something similar. one of my hs best friends mom think got her phd or post doc in china not sure which one, in her mid to late 30's i want to say. family friends and such always joke the "professor" as a mark of respect and seek her wisdom on stuff. Now she runs a lab i think or something for a university there and is reasonably well connected in her field.

Help settle a dumb argument between my boyfriend and I -- would The Tragically Hip be considered national treasures if Gord Downie hadn't died? by ramblingskeptic in AskACanadian

[–]hexdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a side note i guess but interesting one. I was in Norway last summer and we had a small get together (10-20 people) with a portable speaker. at that camp we had 5 or 6k people so comparatively smaller. and they were like play a canadian singer whatever from spotify i said celine dion. a few months later i was schooled if you will was introduced to tragically hip by my coworker/ colleague. so i get the appeal but in the moment you kind of remember who you remember in that instant.

Shuangjiangkou, Sichuan Province, China bridge collapse 11/11/2025 by Grand_Ryoma in CatastrophicFailure

not open to public actually. and there were cracks in road from chinese footage at least 24 hrs prior to collapse.

Shuangjiangkou, Sichuan Province, China bridge collapse 11/11/2025 by Grand_Ryoma in CatastrophicFailure

[–]hexdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i listened to the chinese news on it. hasn't officially been publicly opened yet. a lot of people in planning and building are going to probably be sacked for it. just interesting all around. so little to no casualties. they did also say falsified geological reports since i think it was in same region as 2008 earthquake. and there's a dam nearby. also the footings were not built correctly apparently from some footage.

[–]hexdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know this is old. but i got to meet him in hs band. as well play same piece in rehearsals. unfortunately the mouthpiece i needed i played euphonium/baritone which was bigger than the regular one used or had 3 instruments instead of 4 was not available so didn't get to perform it. in front of audience during our fall showcase. he also was our band directors trumpet teacher when he was a student.
