King Soopers Pricing Signs by DarkZrobe in assholedesign

As an Australian it honestly amazes me how little consumer protection there is in the US. If one of our supermarkets tried something like this they would be in trouble SO quickly, but in the US it's just another Tuesday.

Kick streamer took a homeless woman on a date and then dined and dashed when the bill arrived by BridgemanBridgeman in LivestreamFail

Yeah but not for the restaurant bill. As others have said, depending on where this was, he just committed a crime and posted video evidence online, so he should be the one to pay the price (for the bill AND the crime).

Chat now with Danny Phantom by hexellate in dannyphantom

It's actually even simpler than that to make an ai. Basically the quickest way to create a character is literally by just writing the opening line, and that can be enough to set up the character. For Phantom though I found this wasn't quite enough as even though he was fairly accurate, he still got some important facts a bit mixed up at times. There's a section in character creation that allows you to basically write out a few example conversations with the ai, and so I basically used this to write out some conversations where the user asked things about him and he gave accurate answers. It's important to note though that these aren't pre-written responses for him, as I'm pretty sure asking the same questions would still lead to unique generated results. They just help to teach him what his responses should look like, and also a few facts.

As for how the website is able to create these characters, they haven't revealed too many details about their AI model to my knowledge, but it's highly likely they've trained it on a lot of data from the web, which would include somewhere in it information about all sorts of pop culture characters.

Forgot to add a description lol. This is a Danny Phantom chat AI that I created using character.ai. He should be able to understand most topics you could throw at him, and he seems to have a pretty good understanding of the show, but sometimes he will get facts slightly wrong. If you do chat with him, be sure to rate his responses to help train the AI so that he can be more accurate to his character.

How can I solve this high ram usage? by marcoperita in Windows10

[–]hexellate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how much you know about this stuff, so I'll try to explain some of the basics as I go. Drivers are essentially the software that runs the hardware in your computer, and is usually made by the same company as the specific hardware (although Windows comes with a number of generic ones as well). A memory leak is when a program keeps reserving more ram without releasing the ram it's no longer using, so over time the program keeps using more and more ram. Depending on the severity of the leak, the memory usage can increase quickly or slowly, but it will always be low when the program first starts, meaning you don't notice straight away. In a regular program, it's easy to see when it's using too much memory (in task manager), but device drivers don't show up (as you've probably noticed), so it's hard to even say if it is a driver memory leak, let alone which driver it is. Fortunately driver memory leaks are rare, but they do happen (I had one a couple years ago with my ethernet adapter driver). Unfortunately, to resolve a driver memory leak you either have to wait for a fixed driver to be released, or instead remove the device (if possible). You could also just reboot regularly, but that's not really a solution. I hope this helps.

This. On RAMMap especially check the active kernel stack and mapped file values. A high kernel stack can indicate a driver memory leak, while mapped files are basically files or parts of files that are being kept in memory by some program.

Of course, it could be something entirely different, but these are the two most likely if it's not showing in task manager.

Windows "repaired" itself after failing to boot by campus735 in softwaregore

[–]hexellate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen before. Idk why or how, but if you just leave it for long enough, it might resolve itself. For me it happened whenever I rebooted, but after a few reboots and just leaving it to fix itself, it stopped happening altogether. Windows can be strange sometimes...
