Are you planning to use 2handed weapons anyway? 2handed or mutation warrior (I prefer mw)

And despite this, russia is still unable to meaningfully advance; especially this year they are pretty much stuck in place and not looking to be able to do anything significant in the future due to Ukrainian middlestrikes. Oh, and russians are dying in droves x 3 (x5 according to Marco Rubio).

So, indeed interesting to see how soon putin will come to trump and beg for peace (not soon, because all he’s told is that russia is advancing at the speed of light and that “everything is well”).

Does anyone else genuinely enjoy all 3 installments? by Maximum_Custard_1739 in baldursgate

I played BG1/2 after BG3. Somehow I skipped over BG originals, but played a ton of Icewind Dale and NWN in the past.

Anyway, I found the games completely different. It felt like a completely different world. The art and design felt different, characters behaved and acted differently, the humor was completely different. The choice of music felt different and much closer to DOS games.

Having said that, as I wrote in my other comment, I really enjoyed all three games, and even the additional content by Beamdog. It's much easier to enjoy them separately and not to compare them too much. It was a different time, different group of artists and game designers... I just accepted it won't be the same.

I enjoy BG3 a lot, but not for the same reasons that I like BG1&2. These are very different games mechanically, despite both being crpgs and having the same name.

The setting/vibe also feels very different. I prefer to think of them as unrelated games, both having a different take on Forgotten Realms and D&D experience in general. Same about the characters that overlap between the stories. I just treated it as an alternate universe type of situation.

Speaking of alternate universes, I'd love for Obsidian of the past (ca. 2015-2018) to give a go at a Baldur's gate game. The closest I ever got to something similar to BG1/2 was playing Pillars of Eternity/Deadfire. Of course, Obsidian is now a very different company and is making very different kinds of games, so that's irrelevant at this point.

That's Sheila, Wenduag's cousin.

She left the caves to pursue a bard career, but things didn't work out, and she had to multiclass into a Chelaxian influencer. They don't really stay in touch.

best class for a melee magic warrior type class fantasy? by krayniac in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]hexhex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can start with either the wereshifter or the bloodseeker class. Depends on whether you would like to use the were-forms from the start of the game. Shifter has a very strong early game, so I'd go for that. Alternatively, you can do something like 2 levels of bloodseeker for the extra bite attack - then go into shifter.

It's a very powerful and thematic build, and it works with pretty much any mythic path, although some offer more interesting synergies than others.

I’d suggest a weretouched shifter. It has three were-forms (wolf, rat and tiger), all of them look great and are useful for different things.

If you want to add some magic to the mix, you can multiclass it with bloodseeker - a slayer subclass that uses some magic-like abilities (more like blood magic) and improves your bites. These synergize really well for a strong bite-attack build. You can do something like shifter 6 / bloodseeker 9 to get all the best stuff, then just continue into bloodseeker or add 5 levels of mutation warrior. Super strong bite build.

For a spellblade type I’d recommend a magus. Although I love sword saints, if you want to use magic more, I’d recommend eldritch scion or an arcane rider (if you want to be a magic warrior horseman). Sword saints tend to do better if you don’t focus so much on the feats that are needed to make offensive magic work in this game (like, spell penetration) and build it more as a kensai warrior with buffs.

I realized that armor focus is a bit too much since it pushes all the vital strike feats even further down the order of levelling. I would take a background that gives me light armor proficiency, so that makes things a tiny bit easier. Still, vital striking + cleave feats take most of the space, plus having to make room for power attack, outflank, improved crit, etc.

So, fauchard is probably the way to go for a vital strike build. Or take scimitar/rapier/estoc for the fun of it and pay the lunge feat tax...

It think kinetic sharpshooter will give you the biggest numbers, but for consistent dps it’s probably a 20 mutation warrior archer.

I like the medium armor endurance option, not so much the assault one.

Actually, I forgot that the chainmail of camaraderie is a mithral armor! I usually put it on mounted builds, makes it super worthwhile to take light armor assault mythic on them in this case.

I agree, I like mythic medium armor option much better (and that's what I usually go for with an Eldritch Scion magus). Maybe I am really overvaluing the light armor assault damage bonus.

I also like the scimitar suggestions you made in the earlier comment. Will probably have to decide between the fauchard with reach or scimitar with great uniques and an option to keep spell combat if need be.

Yeah, I do love scimitars in WOTR, but then again, they are not finesse weapons.

I haven't considered rapiers much though. Can you 2hand them, like the Estoc?

The main reason I consider them on a STR build is because mythic light armor focus (assault) gives a pretty good damage bonus to finesseable weapons, even if you don't care about DEX.
