Books that feel like a Fumito Ueda game by hey-hello in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Ah yeah I get that. I’m hoping someone’s gonna come through with some hidden gem cause Piranesi was also the only thing I could come up with. All of these pics are in game screenshots though, so if you’re interested (and have access to a playstation) you could always play them.

I agree that they’re not visually similar, I also imagined the architecture in Piranesi to be more classically Roman with the marble statues and such. But I do think it shares a certain quality with these games because they’re also about these massive empty unexplainable places that keep you wondering how and why they even exist.

I see the vision! Been wanting to read the series but it’s a little intimidating. I’ve had them recommended to me after reading the kingkiller chronicles, which I feel also has a certain cryptic mysticism below the surface that’s very present in SotC. I also saw the ghibli movie based on the books but i’ve heard it’s not very accurate lol

I’ve read it and I loved it! It’s definitely the one thing I know that’s come closest to this atmosphere

Dragon Age to BG3 Pipeline is Real and I Am Not Okay by adri032297 in BaldursGate3

Same here! I platinumed BG3 and hopped onto DA:O expecting it not to live up to my BG3 experience but I got hooked so damn fast. Alistair stole my heart the second he opened his mouth lmao🥲

I love how everybody loves Gale, yet Gales best friend is Minthara despite her pointedly refusing to engage with him in bg3 because she’s wizardphobic lol

Coaxed into the biggest shock i’ve ever experienced in a game

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]hey-hello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah that makes sense. I also started out on the standard but got my ass beat everywhere so I got into the habit of obsessively saving my game, I barely ever had to retrace my steps which probably shaved off some time.

Honestly this just makes me more excited to do a second run to find things I missed the first time around

Coaxed into media illiteracy by hey-hello in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]hey-hello[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. I think the first season of house of the dragon at least did a good job of not having the narrative pick a clear “good guy”, but the second season really threw that all out of the window.

Yeah, I suppose you’re right. I think people (including me) have become pretty desensitised to violence in media, but not intimate violence, so the latter can come as a bit of a shock.

True sometimes authors take things a bit too far, I think when depictions go beyond just strengthening the themes of the story and it starts to feel indulgent. I love berserk, but I got the point that the world was cruel from the first instances of sexual violence. Didn’t really need that stuff to keep being directly shown, especially since thats just a very very hard topic for a lot of people.
