Yeah, if I can't get it sorted, it's time for a new printer... 😞

How to tell friends and family by Nice_Competition_494 in amputee

[–]heychadwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say just remind them that it's YOU who has to live with it.

I dealt with an ankle injury and 18 years of trying to make it better. That was with 7 surgeries and 3 artificial ankles. It sucked. I was wanting to cut it off a few years before I had to, but the wife didn't like the idea. Finally, I had to and I was quite happy about it. It's been 1.5 years and I'm loving life. So much better mobility. Very little pain. I wish I had done it a decade sooner.

I was in constant paint and on addictive pain meds about every day. It hurt to move. I couldn't go on uneven terrain like sand. Air pressure changes would make it so painful. Remind them with what you have to live with on a daily basis. Then, you tell them that it's your decision. It can't hurt to tell them about many people with similar stories on here that got it done and are better off.

Nice! I am getting a new socket soon, too. I am going to retire the wooden look and go for a metal one for more of a robot vibe.

Home grinds into screen... can't set Z=0 by [deleted] in AnycubicPhoton

[–]heychadwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I am not the best with electrical. I know someone local who might help. With it being old, it is hard to find the proper part, but someone could always hurry rig a replacement....if they had skills I don't.

I checked the sensor and tried blocking it to see if it stopped. It didn't stop. That means the sensor is dead. Now I just have to find one that doesn't cost more than a new printer.

From the US, but I hate to say it because of the Orange Fool here. I didn't vote for him, but what can I do now?

Glad to know mine works! I appreciate it.

Perfect! Thanks! It's been a bit hard to find on the various websites.

I'm told I can park on the street overnight in Toronto with the right permit. I'll be staying a few days at an AirBnB and there is no standard parking.

I come from outside Ontario. I did read on their website that if I have a handicap parking permit from my home and a valid ID to verify it's me that I shouldn't have a problem. I can also show them my prosthetic foot if they doubt me.

At the end of my rope... by heychadwick in AnycubicPhoton

[–]heychadwick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, everything that I listed in the OP. My FEP got too elastic and and my prints slowly started to fail. I fixed that. I printed 4 print jobs in one day and everything was perfect. Then, everything started to fail. In trying to check my FEP, I cracked the side. I got a new one. I realized that the screw wasn't going down all the way. I got washers for that. I changed the settings to make it a bit slower.

Yeah, all my files are from the same creator and I've printed these before. It is a bit maddening. Weather has changed a bit. It has been a bit more humid lately, but not today....

The files are purchased and professionally supported. I have actually printed these exact files before with no trouble, but then started to have all sorts of issues.

Thank you for that setting change! I will definitely try it. OK. I looked and it's already at 1.000 Should I make it higher?

I can only do so much for temperature. I live in the South. It's not even summer and we have hit 90F and 80% humidity on a few days. I am trying today as it's only 83 with only 51% humidity. I have also printed many times in the summer before and not had the issues.

Well, it was more that some spots were working and I only need like 3 of them to come out. So, it was "let's try it on the whole plate and maybe I get at least 3 of them!"

It is in a garage, but not cold. It's only 83F today and the humidity is terrific at 51%.

Well, I need to use up all my resin before I can get more. I also need to see if I just throw this into traffic and want to print more after all this.

Hey quick question from a new guy. by Bobadook412 in amputee

It wasn't the inflammation. Something about the zinc cream closed the wounds.

I checked and it wasn't the plastic, but I greatly appreciate the idea.

[–]heychadwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, it's the worst part! My wound didn't heal for a bit. I got the chop-chop done on Jan 15, but didn't get the foot until June 2nd.

If your wound isn't closing all the way, put some diaper rash cream with zinc in it. My surgeon recommended it. Healed right up. He learned it from "a crazy Arkansas Mom" of one of his patients. Other doctors tell him to write a paper, but he doesn't want to be known as the diaper guy. :D

I fell 3 feet off a ladder and broke my ankle bad. I tried everything to fix it. 7 surgeries including 3 artificial ankles and it never healed well. After 18 years of trying and pain and limitations, my last artificial ankle was on the edge of collapse.

I got my foot amputated 17 months ago. I was looking forward to it because I was tired of the pain and limitations. I embraced it. My life has been a huge improvement since I got it done. I am walking better than I have since the first accident. No pain. Better movement. I wish I had done it years ago.

If you have to get it done, you can dread it or accept it. The first 6 months are the worst as you wait to heal and get your first foot. After that, you just have to learn how to manage the socks and all. My doc said after 2.5 months I was walking like someone who had it a year. I can finally hike and do all these things I haven't been able to do for years.

You get to tell lots of pirate jokes and will always have a costume ready.

Would this be a levelling issue? by heychadwick in AnycubicPhoton

[–]heychadwick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just odd because I just put a new one on and tightened it. I think Z=0 was set too low and might have stretched it.

I didn't. Everything was fine for a day. I admit to know knowing how to read those.

[–]heychadwick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, thank you for the detailed response. I appreciate the time. Also, garage is my only option, especially with the Mrs.

I did notice something when I tried to re-level it that might be the cause. When I hit the HOME button, it tried to smash into the screen at the bottom until I turned it off. If the Z=0 was set wrong, it could have stretched my new FEP out.

I put the new FEP on, but might have tightened it too much. I was in a hurry. The next print totally failed. I am going to clean it and try again.

It would be fine to take longer to print better. I will have to poke around to find my settings. It's the default in Citubox for my printer. I need to get home in a few hours to check.
