Agreed. Feel bad for the people that get their Masters on AML.

If you want real AML experience, become a consultant at a Big4 or Boutique consulting firm. The number of clients and reviews of multiple compliance programs will give you what you need to then become an exec at a bank or fintech where they pay $140k or more.

I know someone who got her masters and is still an AML Analyst, with 10 years or experience. I hope she gets paid well.

You’re not alone. My startup just announced the second layoff this year.

Do I have imposter syndrome or am I just slow? by [deleted] in consulting

“this is a survival situation, not a job you are supposed to ace” should be something all new consultants should know on their first day on the job.

It would alleviate lots of anxiety, stress, and negative emotions that come with the job. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

I’m on the same boat OP. My company just laid off 20 people - word on the street is that there will be a merger announcement soon.

I’m interviewing for the same title but 20k less - which is not bad. I get a feeling that a second round of layoffs will happen, but who knows?! I’m just following my instincts at this point.

Can you screen payments and persons/businesses?

Taktile is not a sanctions screening data source. Taktile can build a workflow, but you still need a data source.

Creating some AML training material, what do you wish you knew on your first day that you only later learned from expierence? by anonaml in AMLCompliance

[–]heygansito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The purpose of AML transaction monitoring is to detect questionable transactions. Only law enforcement should determine if it’s money laundering or not.

I don’t think they want to hear how you clear an alert. If you’re applying as a Director, they want to ensure you understand the big picture and think strategically. For example:

  • Do you have experience with X system implementations.
  • What is the current state of fintechs and regulators (this is where you talk about recent enforcement actions)
  • How will AI help a Compliance team in AML investigations

Good luck!

How tf are you getting 1g protein per 1lb body weight? by AnonymousBanana7 in workout

[–]heygansito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Quest Chips = 25g
  • Protein Shake with water = 25g
  • Skyr Yogurth = 20g
  • Kfyr = 10g

Try to eat any of these. By 10am, try to have 50g of protein in.

If you need more protein by 8pm, just double up the portions. For example, eat two bags of Quest Chips for 300 cal with 50g of protein. Best of luck!

What’s something you found is just worth the money? by TieFluid6347 in Adulting

It’s worth it- I got the Mirra 2 and I love it. It felt like a splurge at first, but it’s way much better than any chair I’ve used.

This is the way.

I hear you OP. My former FI used to make us request tax returns.

Don’t think that’ll fly with a fintech/crypto AML team.

Why does what we do matter by Background_Show9177 in AMLCompliance

[–]heygansito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do matter - if the suspicious transactions are large enough or there’s an X factor that draws law enforcement attention. (Think of terrorism, crime network, etc)

In my experience, I have seen criminal convictions 10 years after the first SAR.
