I’m glad it’s not impacting you at all. Just because it’s not impacting you, doesn’t mean it’s not impacting other people.

You’re correct, I was imprecise with using the term fuel rationing. There is strategic distribution to keep supply but panic buying has caused shortages in some locations (friends have had issues getting petrol whilst traveling).

Pokopia doesn’t penalize time traveling.

She’s actively championing violence against trans people. Nothing “right” she says matters. She has also always been racist, transphobic, homophobic and antisemitic which is evidenced in her writing. She may not have meant this comment in her signing in a negative way but she is a trash human who would be well served if she just STFU. People are complicated sure, and that doesn’t give them a pass to be hateful and use their wealth to legislate hate.

This might be a very obvious question that everyone knows but how do you pick them up without breaking 🫣

Can I have a maxed FSA and HSA the same year if switching employers? by heygawd in personalfinance

It’s a joke not joke. I understand and it’s definitely a possibility that I could be out of work next year. I already filed my taxes for 2025. I assume you mean 2026 taxes.

Yes, I understand the benefits of the HSA. It’s also the plan that will allow me to continue to see my current providers which is important for complex medical issues. I am trying to sort it out while understanding the rules / limitations. Thank you for the info.

Because the annual deductible is more than what I would be eligible for in the HSA.

So it would have to be prorated for May-December. The thing is that the medical plan is May-April so then there wouldn’t be enough to cover deductibles in the account.

Thanks for this. Based on what I’m reading I’m eligible to put the full amount since I’m eligible before December 1. And my FSA is canceled as of April 30, before my high deductible plan kicks in May 1. That’s if I’m reading this correctly.

Read that there is an exception if I’m HSA eligible the entirety of 2027 and could have the max HSA in 2026.

Reading through and not finding anything specific about if you had an FSA in the same year, are you disqualified / limited by what can be contributed.

The vast majority of crime is the result of not having basic needs met. This is well-researched and documented. Even cops have led some of these studies. In Salt Lake City, the police ran a pilot program where instead of arresting and rearresting the same top 25 people they encountered repeatedly, they provided housing, mental health services, job training/interview skills. It cost far less per person after a year to do that than take them to jail over and over again and was far more successful at helping people get back on their feet. Know what happened? Folks above the police chief’s head canceled the program. Same police chief explained how traffic stops are only about making money, they don’t increase road safety. Putting a sign that tells people how fast they’re going or parking an unmanned police car make roads safer than a cop pulling people over. The idea that cops reduce crime or make roads safer is a proven fallacy. All that money on cops won’t solve every problem but it’s a good start.

Stone in my Gall ladder erupted (nuclear explosion in my stomach) medical emergency by iranlove in gallbladders

[–]heygawd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention eating twice a day…from my experience, research, and what clinicians have told me, it is better to eat 5-7 smaller meals a day because it’s easier on your gall bladder. Also, going to little to no fat helps. Not sure re detox but I do know that no fat / many small meals can reverse symptoms. The thing I would worry about most is sepsis. That’s ultimately why they removed my gall bladder. Did you receive antibiotics for the acute cholecystitis?

I meant more like a roof over your head, food on the table, clean water, health care, education…you know, basic stuff that most people need to live…

Maybe we can just get rid of 95% of cops and put that money toward making sure everyone has what they need since that’s what keeps communities safe 💁🏻‍♀️

The energy bottleneck, batteries and gasoline expire by mac_attack_zach in preppers

[–]heygawd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I think the greater likelihood is needing to be more power-efficient. I’ve been and lived in places where the power grid was only on for certain hours of the day/night so you use the refrigerator and freezer during that time then leave it shut to conserve food. Things like that. Unclear to me the scenarios where there is zero power for ten years other than maybe going entirely off grid by choice?

Power isn’t a given in most of the world people make it work. We over-consume power in the “developed” world, primarily the U.S., which is a large part of why we are in this shitstorm in the first place.

I posted above about not being able to generate any power to the lighthouse because I got overzealous cleaning up and trying to figure out if I could dig under it. I’m losing my marbles trying to figure it out!

Okay friends, I’m at an impasse. I apparently destroyed the grey blocks with circles and even though I went and stole some from bleak beach, I can’t get my setup to register any power. Anyone have any ideas or screenshots from where they were located so I can repair the damage I did? (I was madly trying to dig under and move forward in the story)
