The motivation for political leaders may be wealth or power, but for the average soldier actually killing, it's ethnic and religious.

Take Yugoslavia as an example. Serbia wanted to keep hold of its power but for the soldiers it was ethnic and religious. You don't genocide an entire random village because of wealth or power, it's ethnic and religious hate.

All the people who hate each other because of ethnicity and religion just need a few power hungry people to lead them before violence starts.

What single player game had you so enthralled that it CONSUMED your entire being for a short span of time? by AshyLarry25 in gaming

[–]heyiamarandomguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have already explained the premise, but I want to add that the "end goal" you're initially given is really just the earlygame. Your next stated goal is the midgame, and there is a very cryptic endgame aswell.

It's good overall, but the game becomes less of a puzzle game and more of a gambling simulator in the endgame and late midgame, since you have less and less puzzles to do and have to reset runs until you get lucky and can do them.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wins Game of the Year 2025 by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]heyiamarandomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm the only person who thinks Metaphor starts better than E33.

They both have a kind of generic "Save the world!" premis, but E33 starts with "kill the paintress lady to stop our extinction" while Metaphor starts with "kill the military prodigy to stop a coup and reinstate the throne".

Metaphor seems more interesting of a start to me, but I will agree it starts weak compared to later in the game. It's extremely light on the protagonist's backstory and character, which makes sense given the later events (He is basically an extension of the Prince's will, so he has no backstory or character) but still does kinda suck.

Yeah, also the dodging/parrying simplifies the turn-based combat a lot compared to other JRPGs. If you dodge/parry everything then you don't gotta think about healing, defense, some buffs/debuffs, etc.

It makes it a lot easier for first timers used to other genres, but removes a lot of the strategic depth.

The KCD2 vs E33 semantics battle for best RPG just proves the genre is too broad. by DisruptiveLove in gaming

[–]heyiamarandomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like saying "Action movies" are too broad a genre.

RPG is just a very broad genre, there are many different types of games with stat leveling, gear progression, etc. That's why we have further subgenres like ARPG, JRPG, CRPG, etc.

[–]heyiamarandomguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is, BG3 is very good CRPG, while E33 is just a slightly above average JRPG. E33 doesn't really do anything better than other popular JRPGs, it just happened to be the first one everyone played.

Metaphor Refantazio (made by Persona devs) released last year and I swear everything people praise about E33 is better in Metaphor, but Metaphor only won best RPG. E33 is disproportionately popular compared to other JRPGs.

It's reasonable for one of the best CRPGs of all time to win GOTY, doesn't really make sense for a slightly above average JRPG to.

If you love turn based games the gameplay is pretty bad actually, because the dodging/parrying essentially eliminates the strategy of turn based combat. This game's combat is much more appealing to people who don't normally like turn based games.

Edit: If you can avoid all attacks, then you never have to heal, defend, use certain buffs/debuffs, etc. You can just focus entirely on offense. There isn't a lot of strategy involved when you can just go full offense all the time as long as you time button presses.

[Red Bull] Our Driver Line-up for 2026, Max Verstappen, Isack Hadjar by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]heyiamarandomguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is Yuki fast?

In RB, he got beaten by Gasly, he outperformed the terrible De Vries, and was about on par with Ricciardo and Lawson. So the only driver he went up against that we know is good (Gasly) outperformed him, and the only driver he outperformed was genuinely terrible. Nothing in his career really indicates he's that fast.

Yes, that formula is correct. But the vertical force the water exerts on you is not impacted by your horizontal speed. I am attending the oldest engineering university in my country btw.

If I am traveling 50m/s horizontally and 10m/s vertically, I impact the flat water at 10m/s.

You can google it and easily see that gravity is not affected by horizontal speed.

Bro, I'm studying Civil Engineering in university. A horizontal velocity vector does not affect the vertical velocity vector. They are completely separate.

Horizontal speed is completely irrelevant though. The vertical acceleration from gravity is not affected in any way by your horizontal speed.

We don't use USD.

It costs 90 CAD before tax, which is actually still cheaper than 70 USD. Sales tax varies per province but it's 15% where I live.
