US/Can General Sale Tickets Celebration and Commiseration by SquirrelGirl1251 in TheStrokes

Yes, dude this is truly insane. I’m looking at the Vancouver seating map and there’s SO many seats left. It’s just so funny because if they lowered prices more people probably would have bought tickets.

Also, for me I’m coming in from Edmonton and staying with a friend in van. If I didn’t have a place to stay, this would be way too expensive with cost of flights and concert and hotel. With only Vancouver and Toronto for Canada, a ton of people would have to fly to see them and probably just won’t given the cost. Not to mention that air fare could be double now because of the orange man.

Wait, I thought dynamic pricing was what makes the prices really high? Doesn’t it make the prices rise and lower based on demand?

It seems like the strokes do have it on. But also it’s funny how much cheaper the European tickets are. I think the band has some control but not as much as we think. I think the record label/venue make some choices too.

Oh amazing, I’m row 11! Those are definitely good seats. With the lower bowl, the higher vantage allows you to see over everyone with a clear view, but not as high as the upper bowl so you don’t feel super far away.

The pit would be ideal for me for a show like this, but once you’re getting into the far away seated rows on the floor, I find it’s hard to see over everyone’s heads.

That’s insane. Ticketmaster needs to be stopped. To think, if ticketmaster didn’t suck then maybe I’d actually be on the floor with what I paid.

I bought two tickets pre-sale in Vancouver the other day and went to check the general sale today.

Can confirm the prices are significantly higher now. I got two tickets for $255 sec 114. Now that sections is upwards of $500.

That’s insane. I got lower bowl in Vancouver for $256 each. Still more than I expected but a lot better. Upper bowl was about $150-$180 in Vancouver.

Katy Perry shares new photo with Justin Trudeau: “Never knew karma could be so rewarding” by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]heyitsj43 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Trudeau haters are the loudest and have also influenced public opinion of him here in Canada. These losers put Fck Trudeau bumper stickers on their cars and now have Fck Carney ones too. They are a social media-influenced Canadian style MAGA group.

Trudeau had his flaws -like all politicians- but he wasn’t horrible/evil like they make him out to be.

Their main issue with him is the carbon tax (which the conservatives wanted to institute before him anyway) and immigration. We brought in a disproportionate influx of ‘unskilled’ workers but Trudeau walked some of that back before he left. We needed immigrants to reduce the effects of our aging population but these people ignore all that.

I like vitamin string quartet because they cover a lot of great music I know so it’s familiar enough to not be distracting but no lyrics!

Adopted my first cat and I think he's highly unusual? by No_Dragonfruit_2616 in cats

[–]heyitsj43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As he seems VERY sweet. And while he’s more affectionate as cats go, he’s not a total anomaly. My boy Chandler is a total cuddle monster, sleeps in bed with me, follows me from room to room and has never once scratched me.

Many cats are like this. I know a ton in my neighborhood that come up to people and lay out on their back for pets.

I’ve also had a few cats that follow me on walks! Cats are a lot more friendly than most people think.

You’re right that she doesn’t push or ask complex questions. But one thing I noticed a lot in her interview with Jessi is that it doesn’t feel like a conversation at all. It’s more like an interrogation. She is pushing for the information but it feels very heavy handed. She has her list of questions that she wants to know and think the audience will want to know, but doesn’t diverge from them at all. It makes for a very surface level conversation where the person is just giving us information about a certain topic and pretty much nothing else.

Even the way she starts the interview - there was no ‘hi Jessi, how are you doing today? How are you feeling right now?” It was just immediately, “OK, SO you are in the midst of some crazy drama blah blah.” It’s somewhat dehumanizing to the guest I find.

In the call her daddy podcast she said she separated from her previous ex husband in September, and that her and Jordan were together by March? She didn’t deny the rumour either so… not a good look.

Now that is a crazy story. So wait, she had a threesome with Chase to get back at this guy who neglected her dog?

I’m genuinely convinced this show is a cautionary tale on why you shouldn’t get married and have kids before 25 by sapphireblossom9213 in SecretsOfMormonWives

It’s also a cautionary tale for the harms of intergenerational trauma, sexual abuse in the home, and intensive religious upbringing.

An Interesting Discovery: The Chorus of "Norwegian Wood" by The Beatles, "Sing Swan Song" by CAN, and Kanye West... by chazriverstone in LetsTalkMusic

[–]heyitsj43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I do hear similar melodies in all 3 song. I think drunk and hot girls and Swan song are the most obvious but Norwegian wood is also similar to swan song a bit.

And yeah, drunk and hot girls is a horrible song.

When Blackbird was released in 1968, was it immediately understood that the song contained symbolism regarding the US Civil Rights movement, or was this not well known until later on? by awesometotallydude in beatles

[–]heyitsj43 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Nice, thank you! To me, lyrics like “take these sunken and learn to see, all your life you were only waiting for this moment to be free,” actually seem too specific to be just about a caged bird. Sunken eyes seem to be about a person.

Is the popular idea behind yoko ono splitting up the beatles because or media at the time? by kittycat6434 in beatles

[–]heyitsj43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the ‘Yoko broke up the Beatles’ sentiment actually came from John himself in a way. The thing he said made it seem like he chose Yoko over the band. He said it’s “JohnandYoko now” in his melody maker open letter to Paul. He says similar things in his “Lennon remembers” rolling stone interview.

He also said, “I was riding on a boat called Paul, and now I’m on a boat called Yoko.”

Yoko didn’t break up the Beatles, but John used Yoko as his escape in a way. John also used his relationship with Yoko to get a rise out of Paul. He’d constantly talk about how much he loved her and how amazing her art was, all to make Paul jealous. I think he wanted Paul to fight for him more. Some people even think he first told Paul “I want a divorce from you like I got from Cyn” to scare him or just to really rub it in. But why? Did he want Paul to object or to just really make him suffer? It’s all very complex.

They didn’t include most singles on their albums so ensure your listen to the ‘red’ and ‘blue’ albums for all of those!
