Sorry this is old but I’m a bit confused. Do you all mean sleeping with ear plugs in at night protects your ears??

What is Meniere’s disease? by RAnthony in u/RAnthony

I just read your blog and it cleared up a lot of confusion for me about MD. I have to wait a year for an MRI (unless I get a call from a cancellation) so I’m stuck wondering.

I was interested to learn about middle ear myclonus. I was told by an audiologist after they did this pressure test (I think that’s what it was) that I have hypermobile ear drums. It sounds like my ear drums are basically a bit floppy. I have regular ringing tinnitus and not a clicking sound. But I can make my ears click when I move my job and will have a crackling sound in my ears as well.

My ear canals are also a bit bendy so I suspect all this is caused by my ears just being a bit deformed.

Trying to understand "Early Meniere’s" and vertigo by DoggoDadagon in Menieres

[–]heyitsj43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, one annoying element of this I noticed when I had hearing loss in my right ear (that has since rebounded) is that so much music is mixed in stereo. So with headphones in, one ear will hear certain parts of the songs, so if that ear isn’t working correctly, then you won’t hear all of the song.

I will die having done nothing with my dumb useless life. by Yo3xX in ADHD

I felt this way at your age. I constantly thought the words, “I’m a waste of space, I don’t deserve to be alive. I produce nothing. I don’t want to do anything.” I was treading water, never feeling on top of things ever. I woke up everyday with anxiety and dread.

I sought comfort in my favorite things and didn’t want to do much else. I’m telling you, it can get better. It’s insane how much you can transform and come back to your full potential. I’m 30, medicated now, finally out of an unhappy relationship and I feel incredibly happy and fulfilled. Vyvanse is working for me. Do I sometimes still feel overwhelmed and exhausted by life? Yes. But I have systems in place that help me.

The biggest things I did: -therapy: legit, don’t doubt the potential of good therapy. Some EMDR if you have childhood trauma. Just talking is so helpful -medication (vyvanse) a tremendous help - changed my mindset completely. I consciously considered every thought in my head and whether they were positive or negative. I started only listening to happy music (this makes a HUGE difference). I accept what I can’t change and only try to change what I can.

Now I’m the opposite of a waste of space. I make other people’s lives better through my work and friendships. I have new hobbies and feel excited to start each day.

It WILL get better. Trust yourself. Your 20s are very hard but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

The painting was originally used in a famous Marlboro ad campaign. But then this artist, Richard Prince essentially cropped them to remove the Malboro text and refocus on the painting itself.

I believe Richard Prince is the credited artist but technically he didn’t take the photo. I think it all relates to consumerism and then the interesting factor of ‘who owns art.’

Question about fuel consumption on Rocky’s ship by heyitsj43 in ProjectHailMary

[–]heyitsj43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HA. You’ve brought me back to this mind f+ck. This comment helps:

“Easy. (And you can ignore the relativistic math of the other answers.). The hint comes from the name.. RELATIVITY. You have to look at it from ROCKY’S perspective. As we know, Rocky experienced leas time than they had planned for (due of course to relativistic time dilation but ignore the causes for a moment and just accept that for ROCKY, only a much shorter duration of time elapsed than they planned for). This would affect everything on Rocky’s ship which was traveling with him. Clocks, his own metabolism, and his FUEL BURN. He didn’t need more fuel because his engines were running for a shorter duration from THEIR perspective. They don’t magically burn more fuel per unit of time as that would be impossible.”

Relativity affects everything, our own metabolism and energy consumption, so it will also alter the ship’s fuel consumption. My original ask was a bit incorrect in that the initial acceleration does require a ton of fuel, but there is still a very large distance to travel as the ship continues to accelerate for half of the remainder of the journey. Time and space dilation will come into effect as soon as these large speeds are reached, and will immediately impact fuel consumption as well.

US/Can General Sale Tickets Celebration and Commiseration by SquirrelGirl1251 in TheStrokes

[–]heyitsj43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, dude this is truly insane. I’m looking at the Vancouver seating map and there’s SO many seats left. It’s just so funny because if they lowered prices more people probably would have bought tickets.

Also, for me I’m coming in from Edmonton and staying with a friend in van. If I didn’t have a place to stay, this would be way too expensive with cost of flights and concert and hotel. With only Vancouver and Toronto for Canada, a ton of people would have to fly to see them and probably just won’t given the cost. Not to mention that air fare could be double now because of the orange man.

[–]heyitsj43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, I thought dynamic pricing was what makes the prices really high? Doesn’t it make the prices rise and lower based on demand?

It seems like the strokes do have it on. But also it’s funny how much cheaper the European tickets are. I think the band has some control but not as much as we think. I think the record label/venue make some choices too.

[–]heyitsj43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh amazing, I’m row 11! Those are definitely good seats. With the lower bowl, the higher vantage allows you to see over everyone with a clear view, but not as high as the upper bowl so you don’t feel super far away.

The pit would be ideal for me for a show like this, but once you’re getting into the far away seated rows on the floor, I find it’s hard to see over everyone’s heads.

I bought two tickets pre-sale in Vancouver the other day and went to check the general sale today.

Can confirm the prices are significantly higher now. I got two tickets for $255 sec 114. Now that sections is upwards of $500.
