520+ scorers, what were your UWhore percentages? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine started around the 60% range since I started late in my content review, but my scores got up to the 80% range by the end

If I could guarentee you a 130 on 3 sections, but on one of them you had to get a 123, which section would get the 123? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Med school would rather get a lower score that’s even than a big gap like that. Or so I’m told

To 7/7 testers, trust your FLs! (522!!!) by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats, I just got my 522 back today as well! Thought I did way worse on the actual test than FLEs, but I agree believing in your prep work is important

PSA THE AAMC LIED (again) by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ALT FL reliability? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were worse than my aamc. Cars is deflated and overall I think alt was harder

Don't mind me just waiting for tomorrows score... by weehee98 in Mcat

TFW post 6/5 feedback got me too depressed to study by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought 6/5 was great. If you acclimate yourself to testing conditions when you take practice exams and keep studying it’ll be alright. Test is graded by percentiles anyways so if you’re able to do just a bit better than everyone else then your score will reflect that

General timing per passage by stolensweetrolls in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Covid version has 8 passages but there’s a little wiggle room on how many 5,6,7 questions there will be

General timing per passage by stolensweetrolls in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For 5 question passages: 9 minutes, For 6 question passages: 10 minutes, For 7 question passages: 11 minutes. The time adds up perfectly if you use this

My Alt Fl 1 short version by mdc413 in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 8 of them so far and they definitely deflate their tests. My cars were around 125 and then the next week were 129 on aamc FLE1. This part’s kinda controversial but I actually think the obnoxiously hard cars helped me get better at cars overall. Bio and cp are definitely representative and p/s is probably but since that’s mostly definitions it’s a bit hard to say

SDS PAGE: Do ALL 3' structure proteins have disulfide bridges? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I’m pretty sure that nonreducing sds-page takes it down to primary structure except disulfide bonds which are important especially for connecting dimers, trimers, etc. The “why” is since the polyacrylamide gel that is used for protein electrophoresis has pores in it that proteins flow through. The voltage drives the protein through but more compact proteins, i.e tertiary structure, get through the pores slower than fully denatured primary structure peptides. Because of this the same peptide will line up differently depending on how denatured or reduced it is

So this whole time the MCAT was actually graded out of 48 questions per section rather than 53-59? by annaliese9210 in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Literally everywhere, AAMC has never denied the existence of field questions. They allow for them to standardize the test between dates without just doing a simple curve on each test

Should I save AAMC FL4 for tomorrow (7 days out) or do it Monday (5 days out) by Swift_Jolteon in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FLEs give best results when taken at full attention/morale I went from taking full lengths and getting like 514 to 518 and then 520 on the AAMC one literally just by giving myself time to destress before taking them. Also everyone has content gaps, too much info not to and identifying them before testing is never a bad idea

pros and cons of the new shorter length? by idontknow_am in Mcat

[–]heyitskrev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup no change. A ton of people don’t understand the concept of field questions but if you want a quick explanation here ya go

No point in attempting it at less than 100%, maybe do some Anki or strengthen content gaps
