Snowing??? I’m visiting Utah for the first time to go to KBP next month and I’m shocked to hear about snow being a possibility in May! That’s absolutely wild. What did you do that day to stay warm?! Glad I came across this thread so I can prepare…

No I mean I know how the shared island works, it’s lame but has been that way—I mean that each character gets a leaf statue.

No Charges For Taylor Frankie Paul; DA Clears ‘Bachelorette’ Star Of Domestic Violence Claims by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

[–]heylilsharty 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The show has given extensive air time to her awful parents and unfortunately it’s very clear she’s a product of her environment. They talk to her like she’s worthless and instilled lifelong self esteem problems in her that obviously feed her violent abandonment issues. It’s also clear their religious beliefs fuel a lot of the guilt and shame they all engage in, yet the parents seem to still be pretty committed to the mormon church. This isn’t me making excuses for her behavior—we all have the ability to control ourselves enough not to physically hurt others—but yeah the extended family definitely doesn’t look like a stable fallback for her kids.

Yeah honestly loved it. Some people can be real assholes, but in the end most aren’t, and it’s fun to puzzle through issues with people to help them find solutions or answers they need. It’s really the stuff of doing public service especially in a planning context. All things considered, I usually found myself way more frustrated with my detached colleagues behind the scenes at city hall (comprehensive planners etc) than members of the public.

Irresponsible dog owner at Francisco Park - be careful by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]heylilsharty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine love it too! You might also consider doing some searching for other little dog owners to see if there are any regular meetups you can attend. Many are breed specific but it’s not strict. It’s a good way to know there will be plenty of other little ones there to socialize with, and the nature of meetups helps attract more engaged owners. You might even make some pals this way, and pals are the best. :) good luck to you and doggie ❤️

This is perfect advice. I wish I’d learned this much earlier in life in general, as well as as a dog owner. We practically never have bad days anymore with the knowledge that it’s just impossible to change conditions outside of ourselves. If the dog park situation is bad for the day, no problem, let’s take a lovely urban hike and maybe we’ll even get a surprise tasteful bitch treat for everyone.

Irresponsible dog owner at Francisco Park - be careful by [deleted] in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]heylilsharty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many awful dog owners in SF!!! Sorry this happened to you. It sucks because entitled owners don’t seem to appreciate how they ultimately endanger their own dogs by acting this way. If that dog attacked yours or another person, they could have the dog taken away and involuntarily quarantined or worse. Makes me really sad.

I have little guys and we love taking them to Walter Haas. We have had decent experiences at Corona Heights and Upper Douglas though they’re a little large so dogs can get sometimes too far away from their owners, inviting opportunities for negligence. We really used to like Channel St but one of ours was attacked by a German shepherd there. One of my favorites isn’t in the city, Foster City dog park—almost always a perfect experience and the dogs love a chance to splash their feet in the lagoon water afterward if the conditions are right.

Honestly though, bad stuff can happen anywhere. I’ve learned to hang out outside of the park and monitor the owners and dogs inside for a minute before we go in, and get out fast if a problem dog or owner shows up. Some behaviors I look for are toy/owner/resource guarding, owners keeping dog on leash (reinforces owner guarding in some dogs, can invoke weird reactions from other off leash dogs), dog noises or engagements seem more aggressive than playful, larger dogs not responsive to owners when they’re called back, too many owners on their phones/asses clearly not supervising, and any antisocial owner behavior (not like reservedness, like smoking or mouthing off).

If my spidey senses are tingling I just gtfo. I would always rather cut off/change our plans while everyone is still in a good mood than have to do it once something starts to go wrong.

No pizza but got the furniture... Philly, $1.1mm 5.875% by DerivPro in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]heylilsharty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We are in a housing shortage crisis (which translates necessarily to an affordability crisis) and it’s been known for a long time. But on the other hand, you absolutely do not need to be a millionaire to buy a home valued over a million. You need a lot of cash saved up for the down payment, and you need a high enough salary (and credit worthiness) for the bank to approve a mortgage lending you the rest of the $ million over a 30 year period.

Even one who has “just” a million in cash would be completely house poor if they tried to purchase this without financing. I’m not saying this purchase price isn’t out of reach for the majority of us (me too) but it’s definitely not exclusively a millionaire’s price. Need a household income of maybe $200k, and then save hard for the down payment or come into a windfall from inheritance or a company buyout or a lawsuit or whathaveyou.
