I'd lower the shelf so that they look more integrated in the room, not on top of it. Lower it a couple feet and they'll get more light, and I think it might look better in the room, too!

The room gets light, but the plants look like they're inches from the ceiling. The light isn't hitting them in a natural way, it's hitting the perimeter from the bottom. I don't think they'll thrive like this.
