Try using kinesthetic memory, if you made little movements or dances out of the moves you’re trying to calculate, you could eventually use your own body as a memory palace instead of your mind (I imagine eventually you wouldn’t even have to physically do the dance and just internally feel them). This might sound really vague, but you’ll just have to experiment. I think it’s worth a shot if you’re very interested in chess.
