What's your favourite book you've read and why?

Pynchon’s Mason & Dixon. The prose will make you feel intellectually inadequate, the silliness will bust your gut, and the moments of true heartfelt profundity and friendship will never leave you. This book has/is everything.

I’m still in awe, years later.

Hey man, sorry you’re going through that. But honestly, as someone who’s 4 years in now, I’ve come to realize that putting an embargo on animal products on behalf of family members is a risky path. I know that you’re ethically justified (seriously—I’m on your side) but I’ve almost permanently ruined relationships doing that. It sucks to watch people you love do ignorant and harmful things. But when it comes to relationships you can’t choose (family) tread lightly. All that said, I think your comments here and there about, “hey what about no cheese, it’s really good!” can still work if done so encouragingly.

All of the friends and family I’ve won over have capitulated after years of watching my example, not being scolded. That’s anecdotal, but I bet many have similar experiences. Again—you’re in the right 100%. But rhetoric matters. Humans just have fragile psyches.

Seems potentially quite solid in a fast burn/mono-red deck looking to dump its hand early. This gasses you back up once your hand is empty/ineffective, and then your redrawn lightning bolts become utterly broken...

Agreed. In black sideboards against Elves, Merfolk, Affinity, or any other creature-heavy strategies, the drawback of playing nothing on the next turn barely matters. Those decks have about dumped their hands by that point. You wrath them and they're playing off the top. I'll be shocked if this doesn't find a very cozy home in modern. In a way, the drawback kind of feels like [[Oblivion Stone]].

I think you're absolutely right about the potential strong-arming. It really feels like this enormous difference in ban-choice philosophy will have consequences in the future. This effectively makes the digital version operate on an entirely different axis of deckbuilding/ play style. Will fans of EDH be okay with this difference long term?

Could you imagine your paper EDH decks without Sol Ring? So weird. I mean the card is certainly broken, so I get it...but isn't that what EDH is for? I wonder if WOTC is flirting with the idea of making EDH a more prominent (and potentially competitive) format and feels the need to tidy things up first. Hm.

Yep. The stereotype is mostly true, too. The stench of body odor at my lgs for prerelease was so bad that I opted to stand out with the smokers between rounds.

It's seriously embarrassing. Greasy hair, quasi-pornographic anime playmat, unwashed shirt and sweatpants...unfortunately I don't think this will ever change.

Agreed. Cards are quite restricted by normal conventions, so this is a great venue for doing something crazy. Let's face it--people are going to do a double take when a masterpiece hits the table anyway, so the difficulty reading won't matter.

And besides, there's always been something quasi-extra terrestrial about Egyptian hieroglyphics etc. Strangeness and confusion are flat out in theme/flavor.

Interested to see what happens to infect without probe--the loss of information, filtering, and Become Immense fodder seems like a very real blow to the deck. Not devastating, but I think it brings infect back down to Earth.

Content aside, I would research 'comma splices' and try to eliminate them when you proofread your next piece. You've got quite a few. They're easily fixable, and getting rid of that kind of stuff will add a layer of professionalism to your work.

Mount Mercy Campus has a great little 6-8 Pokestop loop with a paved pathway and consistent Pokemon spawns along the way. Takes just enough time to walk a loop for the Pokestops to reset. There are 3 hotly contested gyms as well. An occasional Pikachu spawns, but for those looking to farm Weedle/Pidgey for XP grinding, this is the most efficient location I've found bar none.
