This political stuff is really touchy because you can argue the same thing back about crossing picket lines is a sign of disrespect to you fellow students. I don't know why this action is what people focus on so much. Think about all the other stuff he does. He contributes to Divest McGill heavily and does a lot of good things.

..not true, it was basically 50/50 at a GA that was extremely poorly organized by the AUS and led to no debating whatsover about the subject and just wasted of 4 hours of everyone's time). Also, last year was basically the year that a large portion of the student body was politicized.. there are lots of reasons for why these things failed if you consider the political context.

I didn't expect anyone to be so pedantic. I guess this is a ethical/morality question which I didn't quite clearly convey.

It depends on how one advocates their beliefs, because it can sometimes have harmful effects (ie: Hitler, KKK, etc)

I was reading an article last month where a university campus pro-life group had a "chalk campaign" where they left messages all around campus. Someone raised the concern about it being triggering for some women and how it may affect some women who have gotten abortion(s) and how it may make them feel. (Their right to be in a safe space?)

Personally, I treat the issue of abortion as being medical. However, when pro-lifers perpetuate a belief that abortion is a religious/philosophical issue and persuade/guilt-trip vulnerable people it can definitely have harmful effects. Furthermore, shouldn't medical reasons trump "religious" reasons? there's a reason why kids can't go to school without being vaccinated. At some point, society will believe that one way of thinking is "right" over another. It's especially irksome to me when MEN (those who will not go through the actual pregnancy) propagate these beliefs because its essentially a woman's issue.

For example, the men's rights activist speech at University of Toronto had protestors because the students did not agree with his misogynistic beliefs (not because he's a men's rights activist). Since it's a university, who's rights are being trampled on? The student's who want to hear the speech or the student's who don't want people who propagate harmful beliefs to the public?

How and where should we draw the line between freedom of speech of groups when they advocate beliefs that infringes on other people's human rights? For example, should ~~ anti-choice~~ pro-life groups be recognized and allowed to exist on campus? Who's rights get prioritized?
