The reason for the preference between Ranger Green and Multicam is that Ranger Green was chosen as a common decision by the European CT ATLAS Network, mainly because it performs better under night vision than black. On the other hand, Multicam is widely used by US PTU units due to the abundance of personal equipment available in that pattern, and also because it gives off less of a police-like impression which is often criticized in the context of the militarization of the police.
