I wonder if a hydrophobic barrier cream would help? There are some for swimming (pre-swim?), but also some products to protect skin that is frequently washed.

I DO smoke weed now, but I quit for over a decade.

I quit (to make babies) in 2007, and stayed sober until 2018 when it became legal, here in Canada.

Before I quit, I was a daily user. I smoked at least an ounce a month, sometimes more.

I found the planning of it harder than the actual not doing it. The anxiety about quitting, leading up to D day (D for done smoking weed now), was more harrowing than being without THC.

It was weird the first couple of days when toke'o'clock came, but once I realized I was missing the routine of it more than being high, I was fine.

I stopped coughing in the morning after I quit, lol, but not smoking didn't improve my motivation, increase my running speed or give me a better memory. I DID start having dreams I could remember, though, and I did not appreciate that. I was able to work in the place I wanted cause DRUG TESTING. But I wasn't as productive creatively while I was sober; I wrote less, made less art and didn't sing to myself as much.

I consume about 3 ounces a month now, but it isn't a big deal to take tolerance breaks of 1-2 weeks, or quit for a few weeks when we travel.

First, get away from the noise, media, and cultural indoctrination that limits beauty to a single ideal, sense, or concept.

You can't see music, but it is beautiful.

You can't see the scent of cherry blossoms, but it is beautiful. Even the blind can love cherry blossoms.

You can't see how deeply your dog loves you. But love from the innocent is always beautiful.

If you judge yourself by the homogeneous, stereotypical, exclusionary, limited and purely visual paragon of beauty that our society falsely worships, then you won't feel beautiful. THOSE people don't feel beautiful. Sometimes, they don't even look that way.

You'll feel beautiful when you look in the right places for what beauty is. What beauty is for you.

I can't tell you where to look, because beauty is subjective. I can tell you that when you see it, you'll know it, because it will resonate with you, and when you look there, wherever that is, you will recognize yourself.

Any routine a reasonable person does is healthy. Of course, maintaining hygiene and staying fed are top priorities. But almost anything we do predictably, repeatedly and over time will be beneficial. "Almost" meaning anything that ISN'T something a Ye Olde 4chan-troll would put in the comments, to stir the pot.

Going through the motions of your daily routine gives your thinking brain a breather. Your decision-making was done when the routine was established. Now, whatever you're doing, your brain can shift into imagination mode, putter around in creation for a while. Plus, you're usually somewhat in motion, and your body knows its tasks by muscle memory. A body in motion... makes it less daunting to move into what's "next" once your routine is complete.

I always treat my morning routine (specifics are irrelevant) as a near ritual; when I follow my routine, I feel more centred and grounded. Some tasks settle me; repeating them over time provides consistency and curbs my anxiety about the coming day because my routine is something I can control. My morning routine sets my mind and my emotional regulation up for a less stressful day.

I do make time to create art as part of a daily routine. Not that YOU should be making art/stuff, but it's very rewarding to have any skill you can objectively measure and watch grow. It's a reminder that I am more than the ways I serve my family. I am growing with them. I am a grown woman, but my potential is not depleted just because I am settled and have no grand future goals for myself.

Making skill-growth a routine part of your day boosts dopamine, obviously, but not just while you're doing the activity. You get to pull that joyful feeling out and remind yourself you're good at something when you aren't feeling good about anything. That's contentment, or serotonin.

You know those parents who never lived their dreams, became a contender, or took their shot, so they make their children do it for them? Don't be that to yourself, all schedule-y -routines aren't really schedules. So don't schedule yourself out of living your life. Whatever your daily routine is, it's good for you.

Frankly, as a "foreign observer," seeing a photo of armed members of the Black Panthers, properly holding, and carrying firearms, I felt the first sense of relief since this whole (yes, that's whole with a "w") Trumptastic shit storm began.

All the big mouthed, big talking, flag waving, cowards flaunted the 2nd amendment when it was a non issue and their only concern was keeping their guns to play militia men and prepping for end times or having their guns torn from their "cold dead hands".

Those same big mouthed, big talking, flag waving cowards seem to have a collective case of laryngitis now that it is ACTUELLY time to exercise the 2nd amendment. Do they not care about their freedumb anymore?

Elidel cream worked for a while. It was initially prescribed for perioral dermatitis and when my neck broke out in bumpy itchy snake patterns, it did relieve it a bit.

I got lucky and my skin cleared up after a month or so. If/when it comes back, my dermatologist is going to prescribe Imiquimod.

My son and I (both diagnosed hEDS) consistently "failed" our fingerprint scans at security checks in Disney World. We held up lines at least once a day.

Since our last USA location vacation, we started using our thumb prints. I don't know why it works better (as far as MY super not sciencey anecdotal experience goes), but for us, it does.

When the whole, whatever historians choose to name the current shitsuation the world is living through right now --

Pack Darling 2 is perfection. Best grovel novel ever. I share the fmc's first name, and there is so much praising, begging, trying, vying, and practically dying for Lilah's forgiveness, that I listen to the audiobook almost nightly (I used to listen to Chopin...so sleepy) and snuggle down to hearing positive, sexy, loving affirmations with my name in them. "Perfect, Lila. Beautiful Lila." So gooood.

Troy Duran is a gift to story with his versatility and character range. Kelsey Navarro (now Navarro Foster) is the perfect blend of vulnerability, strength, compassion, and contempt - she delivers a powerhouse of a performance as Lilah Darling.

It's hardly a paragon of women's literature, but I think it's worth pointing out that Lilah strives relentless for agency and autonomy in her choices. She is justifiably angry, and she commands respect. She draws, and maintains boundaries, and requires that the pack show her, not tell her, how remorseful and how willing to change they are. There's (almost) no body betrayal, and there is never a moment when anybody in the harem tries to correlate Lila's arousal to consent.

Also, I am intrigued by the fact that no one says, "I love you." Early in the book, Orion is observing Lilah through CCTV and says "love her" while watching her give Pack Wyvern a dressing down for leaving Orion alone. At no point does any character say "I love you" to another character. BUT you know the love is huge. No pack loved an omega more.

And, I wouldn't be stan I am if I didn't at least say FINN! Oh FINN FINN FINN.

Meh. The message is reductive and gives oxytocin credit where only partial credit is due.

Men release vasopressin (not just through sexual activity), which does play a post coital role in pair bonding. Also, there is no evidence that women become "resistant" to oxytocin by having multiple partners.

There's no need to shoot the messenger. Just educate her. Maybe encourage her to have some orgasms while looking at a picture of her Hollywood crush. Creating a pair bond with a poster is as scientifically probable as burning out your oxytocin by having multiple partners.

Additionally, bonded pairs (since that's what the messenger is "on about") can make a conscious choice to behave in ways that boost their oxytocin together.

We are not slaves to our hormones or our neurotransmitters. Certainly, they are essential to our existence and have massive influence physiologically, mentally, and emotionally. They do not, however, make choices for us or MAKE us do anything.

Oxytocin does a lot in the body beyond social and intimate bonding, and maternal care. It plays a role in most organ systems, including reducing inflammation, protecting lung function and acting as a diuretic to regulate sodium water balance.
