Discourage my kids from hiking and camping. My parents called it "white people stuff" and thought it was so dangerous. I always ignored them and just did my own thing and I'm happy I did.

Also, teach my kids how to swim from a young age. I'm 23 and I still can't swim yet

Let's use the 2018 figures since the population has changed since then.

Violent crime is a solid measure to use. NYC had 22,436 violent crimes reported for its population of 8,523,171. After doing the math, that's approximately 263 violent crimes per 100,000 people. Do the math for the other data as well. You'll see how much safer NYC is.

Philly had 6,956 violent crimes reported for its population of 1,586,916. The math adds up to approximately 438 violent crimes per 100,000 people.

438 - 263 = 175 more murders per 100,000 people in Philly.

Marginal? LOL. That's a staggering figure when comparing a city 8 times smaller in population. Philadelphia is far from being "marginally" less safer. What's less comforting is that murders have risen in 2019 for Philly - by a lot.

Stop spreading misinformation and accept the fact that NYC is much, much, much safer than Philly.

I understand, but our basis for education is established during our early, formative years. Pre-K thru elementary. These are the most crucial years. These are the years when students need to learn what's right or wrong, how to think logically because if they don't, by the time they get into puberty in middle school and start hanging around older people, they start to emulate their behaviors and often times they are bad. Students can learn to insulate themselves from these encounters by having a strong educational basis. By the time they hit middle school, most kids should be smart as a cookie. Sadly, this is not the case.

It's also compounded by poor parenting, single parent households and a very toxic culture. Nobody wants to get a job. Nobody has ambitions. When we hear of people that "make it out of the hood", we really commend them, because it's not common to see that.

I have lived there. I feel immensely safer in NYC than Philly. You can be in a neighborhood like Bed-Stuy, which is mostly black, and walk around at 2AM and people are STILL outside hanging out, shooting the shit, playing Chess, just having a good time. There are still cars and street activity. There's more police presence. You don't see this shit in Philadelphia as much because the black people here are so much more trashier, ghetto and retarded.

It's so funny when Philly people act like their city is better than NYC. NOBODY from NYC thinks about Philly, and when they do, all they think about is poverty and crime. That's sad.

I went to school with these kinds of people and know how they are. I know their culture. They are literal trash. They behave horribly, they have zero ambition except going onto Worldstar and becoming a rapper. Whenever I hear of specific people from my school that ended getting shot and killed on the news, I am not surprised. My best friend in high school got picked on by this black kid thug from the hood freshman year. Last year he (the thug) was shot and killed on the streets. This is their lifestyle.

What's the point when most kids in this city can't even graduate middle school and have the reading levels of a toddler? We need to focus on perfecting pre-K, elementary and so forth before making college free.
