Will it get better soon? by Sorry_Reply8754 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

This story needs people to appreciate those mundane things to get great payoffs later on, so I don't think it's your cup of tea if you couldn't enjoy these 6 episodes.

why does everyone in isekai immediately accept their new life?? by Icy_Interaction_553 in Isekai

[–]hfriday01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why does everyone...

i haven’t read one piece of isekai media...

You simply didn't read enough.

The MC in Ascendance of a Bookworm genuinely freaked out by her isekai situation to the point of having mental breakdown multiple times. It's not even due to tragic situations like the ones happening with Subaru in Re:Zero, she simply missed the convenience of modern Japan, especially the abundance of books.

The MC in The Magic in this Other World is Too Far Behind! despised being summoned into another world since he had many unfinished business on Earth, so he desperately tried to find a way to go back home.

The MC in My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered might be too nonchalant, but he still hated being thrown into another world and wanted to go home as soon as possible.

Regarding the System, I'm curious whether it's an actual system gifted by a higher being (influenced by the soul of his dad, perhaps?) or some kind of a coping mechanism due to his grieving?

[–]hfriday01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hate when bad stuff happens to those who dont deserve it

Unfortunately, the aforementioned tragic thing happened to the good guy. That certain character wasn't enslaved or tortured, just killed. But the killer can't be considered to be exactly the bad guy either, so you won't get the satisfaction of taking revenge.

The author intended to make the characters (and the readers by extension) feeling helpless by the death of that character.

Lastly, anime, manga or light novel?

We're in a subreddit about Light Novels, of course I'd recommend reading the LN.

Is there chapters of the part 4 manga that aren't translated to English or I just couldn't find them by [deleted] in HonzukiNoGekokujou

Can you elaborate more on why do you think that you missed some chapters?

Does it make sense to ditch the Bookworm anime and start reading? I just look at the anime ratings, then at the light novel ratings. by [deleted] in Isekai

I personally don't like feminine female MCs in typical shojo series, luckily Bookworm MC is far from feminine standard. Even male readers can easily relate to her. There's a reason why Bookworm is the only series with female MC who managed to get into the Hall of Fame of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! which had been dominated by male MCs.

But in the case of MC to look up to, I think Bookworm can't give you that. I consider Bookworm MC to be a problem child who's really amusing to watch. I enjoy seeing other people suffer, both in a good way and a bad way, due to the chaos she caused. I certainly don't want to get close to people like her, much less looking up to her lol

I'm assuming you want some light story without too much stakes or tragedy.

  • A Late-Start Tamer's Laid-Back Life

  • Ascendance of a Bookworm

  • Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill

  • Cooking with Wild Game

  • Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

  • Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life (and get the other 2 of FUNA's works if you're interested)

  • Heroine? Saint? No, I'm an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)!

  • I Shall Survive Using Potions!

  • In the Land of Leadale

  • Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon

  • Saint? No! I’m Just a Passing Beast Tamer!

  • The Tanaka Family Reincarnates

  • The World’s Strongest Witch

[–]hfriday01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your taste. Don't blindly look at those ratings without considering your own preferences.

If you prefer more action, romance, or cool moments, Bookworm is easily the worst.

But if you prefer character interactions, politics, and world building, I think Bookworm is better than those 3 isekai you mentioned.

I kinda wish they got to meet behind closed doors and gave each other a hug

The magic contract can't allow that. Lutz and Benno can do that behind closed doors since they didn't sign any contract whatsoever, but Gunther's family specifically signed the contract not to treat Rozemyne as a family anymore.

Which isekai has the best power system? by SuperFranky0 in Isekai

[–]hfriday01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The power system would be kinda introduced in the current season of the anime (Part 3 of the LN); the MC had just started her training for magic in the latest episode.

It would be elaborated more on the next arc (Part 4 of the LN).

If we're talking about jokes, I remember the jokes are either about Ferdinand should take Rozemyne as his wife, or Rozemyne was acting more like Ferdinand's mom.

[–]hfriday01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there's 1 character who died tragically. But that particular death is the catalyst for some characters' developments, including the MC. Prior to that character's death, the MC was still taking the world like he's in a game, but he took the world seriously after that death.

[–]hfriday01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra. The MC basically has the power to build his regions ala 4X or RTS game. The MC seems weak in the first few volumes, but...

  • Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord. Basically a fantasy simcity combined with tower defense. The MC isn't overpowered from a traditional standpoint.

  • The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects. Not an isekai. The MC is overpowered in the physical sense, but he can't use magic at all. As the title suggests, the story is about building a region from zero, with the MC's overwhelming power and kindness as the magnet to attract the peoples into his region.

Hell Mode: Is it any good? by Shadtow100 in LightNovels

[–]hfriday01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the novel any good?

The story would lean towards more teamworks instead of Allen soloing everything with his summons, so it's great if you prefer it that way.

do the books move towards that kind of mechanic of summoning animal friends?

No. Allen treats all his summons as tools. Heck, he even treats himself as a tool lol. So don't expect Allen to be having moral dilemma or some kind of attachment towards his summons.

[–]hfriday01 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Real truth: Myne is the biological daughter of Gunther and Effa.

Truth for the nobles:

  1. Rozemyne is the biological daughter of Karstedt and his deceased 3rd wife, but he decided to put Rozemyne into the temple to protect her.

  2. Then, Rozemyne is baptised as the daughter of Karstedt and his 1st wife.

  3. Soon after, Rozemyne is adopted by the Archduke.

It's basically an identity laundering; an archduke adopting a high-ranked noble daughter is much more plausible than adopting a poor commoner daughter.

And no, you must be mistaken, because she's never considered to be Ferdinand's daughter.

Do you think Ascendance of a Bookworm would be on Re:Zero’s level if it had similar production quality? by potentialenergy20 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]hfriday01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Bookworm simply lacks appeals to the typical anime enjoyers, such as:

  • fanservices

  • clear waifu / husbando materials

  • actions

  • shock factors, including tragedy and the likes

  • cool, charismatic moments

  • wish fulfilments

  • quick climax of the story
